Thursday's Cross Country: Locals Punch Ticket to State Cross Country Meet

WOODLAND — There were several local runners that qualified for the state cross country meet at the District IV 2A/1A Championships at Lewis River Golf Course here on Thursday morning.

In the 2A boys race, Rochester’s Levi Jennings was the highest local finisher in 10th place with a time of 16 minutes, 59 seconds. W.F. West’s Myles Johnston finished 19th in 17:22 and teammate William Taylor took 21st place in 17:23. Henry Jordan also earned a spot to state, taking 27th place in 17:39.

Columbia River’s Aidan Rowley won the race in 16:12. The Chieftains also won the team title and Tumwater finished second.

In the 2A girls race, W.F. West’s Elaina Koenig was the only local runner to punch a ticket to state, finishing in 13th place with a time of 21:32.

Hockinson’s Allyson Peterson won the race in 18:50 and the Hawks also won the team title while Tumwater finished second.



In the 1A girls race, Tenino’s Katie Snyder finished 23rd in 23:59. Seton Catholic’s Lara Carrion won the race in 18:58. La Center won the girls team title.

In the 1A boys race, Tenino’s Sam Hill earned his spot in the state race with a third place finish in 17:22. Drew Hart finished 23rd in 18:24 and Braxton Williams finished 30th in 18:58.

La Center’s Joseph Blanshan won the race in 16:28. The Columbia (White Salmon) won the boys team title.

The cross country season will culminate next Saturday, Nov. 9, at Sun Willows Golf Course in Pasco at the WIAA State Cross Country Championships.
