The Tumwater girls basketball team stormed out to an early lead and only kept growing it as the night went on in Shelton, dominating the Highclimbers 58-25 in its 2A EvCo debut.
“I feel like we took a positive step forward with our group tonight,” Tumwater coach Nathan Buchheit said.
Sydney Sumrok took her turn leading the offense with 19 points, while Rhylee Beebe had 18 and Regan Brewer scored 10.
“Offensively, being balanced with our scoring was good to see,” Buchheit said.
The Thunderbirds (2-0, 1-0 2A EvCo) held Shelton to just two points in the first quarter, and led 34-10 at halftime before growing the lead to 30 points in the third quarter.
Tumwater is set to host Rochester on Friday.
