Residents across Thurston County navigated scattered power outages Monday after a blustery spring storm that included hail showers blew through Western Washington.
According to Puget Sound Energy's outage map, thousands of people from Hawks Prairie in Lacey to northeast Olympia to Bucoda were without power Monday morning. Some areas were still without power mid afternoon, with projections that it would be evening before power was restored.
There were trees reported in the power lines on State Route 507 in both directions near the Bucoda city limits, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation.
More than 2,300 residents in northeast Lacey were without power and Melanie Coon, public relations manager for Puget Sound Energy, said the cause was trees in the power lines. The outage was restored around 10 a.m., Coon said.
A representative with Thurston County Emergency Management said they were unaware of any road closures due to downed power lines, trees or flooding.
A number of storm waves blew through the area Monday, including one about 10 a.m. that included hail and high winds.
Rain was expected to continue through early Tuesday, with the high wind warning expected to expire 11 p.m. Monday.
But the weather is going to improve quickly, with sunny skies expected Tuesday through Thursday, and the high temperature expected to reach 70 degrees Thursday.
