Though they don’t get the notoriety and attention granted for some elected officials, directors of school, water, fire and cemetery districts play a valuable role.
During this year’s filing week, though, many went without a single candidate.
For the elected positions that went unclaimed during regular filing week in May, the Lewis County Auditor’s Office will hold a special filing period. From 8:30 a.m. on June 6 to 4:30 p.m. June 8 in person and online.
Any candidates who file for any of the below offices during the special 3-day filing period will go straight to the general election ballot, regardless of the number of candidates. There is no withdrawal period when filing in the three-day special filing. If no one files for the position, the incumbent, if there is one, will automatically remain in office until the next election and no write-ins will be accepted for the office.
Candidates can file at the Lewis County Courthouse or at lewiscountywa.gov for any of the following spots:
• Boistfort School District 234, director for district No. 2
