What started in a living room in Lewis County has grown into a national movement in girls softball.
The Yard PNW, a female-founded athletic event company based in Southwest Washington, is now hosting camps across the country. But this spring, they’re bringing the spotlight back home.
Over the next few weeks, The Yard PNW will host development-focused softball camps in Centralia, Adna, Chehalis and Montesano, serving athletes of all ages and skill levels throughout the region.
The camps will be hosted on the following dates:
• Sunday, March 29 — Coaches camp in Centralia
• Friday, April 3 — Future Champ Camp at Adna High School
• Wednesday, April 8 — Spring training at Rec Park in Chehalis
• Thursday, April 9 — Spring training at Montesano Junior-Senior High School
• Wednesdays in April — Skills camps at Borst Park in Centralia
Camps will focus on foundational skill development, overseen by The Yard staff, current and former collegiate athletes and high school volunteers.
“We love the environment our high school volunteers create,” co-founder Rylleigh Zbaraschuk said in a news release. “Watching them step into leadership, own their skills and encourage the next generation is one of the most powerful parts of what we do. These are the same girls who will one day hand down their jerseys to the little ones they’re coaching.”
Founded by former collegiate athletes and local parents, The Yard PNW was created to redefine athletic events and increase access to transformative sport experiences, particularly for girls in rural communities where resources and facilities can be limited.
“We built The Yard to redefine the athlete experience,” The Yard PNW co-founder Parker Zbaraschuk said in a news release. “We believe every athlete deserves access to high-level instruction, positive coaching, and an intentional experience that builds confidence, no matter where they live.”
While many know The Yard for its camps and clinics, the company has quietly expanded its reach far beyond Southwest Washington.
Over the past two years, The Yard PNW has partnered with national organizations, collaborated with elite-level coaches, and supported events tied to major fastpitch platforms like Alliance Fastpitch. Their work now spans multiple states, with camps and development events serving thousands of athletes annually.
But growth hasn’t changed their focus.
“We’re female-founded and female-forward,” Zbaraschuk said. “We understand what it means to be a girl in sport. Everything we build centers around athlete development, confidence and long-term love of the game.”
Though their footprint now extends across the country, The Yard remains deeply rooted in Lewis County. The organization works alongside local leagues, partners with community businesses, and reinvests in rural softball programming. As youth sports continue to evolve, The Yard represents a new model: community-driven, development-first and intentionally designed to elevate the athlete experience.
Spring camp registration is currently open, with limited spots available in each city. For more information, to register, or to volunteer, visit The Yard PNW’s website at https://www.theyardpnw.com/camps or follow them on social media for updates.
