“The Enchanting World of Garlic” comes to Chehalis Outfitters in Chehalis at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 20.

This educational presentation will be held in the red building in the north parking lot where Jeremy’s Fruit Stand used to be located, according to a news release from Chehalis Outfitters. Admission is free and open to the public.

Led by certified Master Gardener Jeannette Lawson, this program will explore every layer of garlic’s story, from its history and folklore to the science behind its strong aroma and flavors.

Attendees will learn the difference between hardneck and softneck varieties, planting and fertilizing techniques, and tips for maintaining soil health, the release stated.

The presentation will also cover how to identify common pests and pathogens, plus the art of harvesting, curing and storing garlic for long-lasting flavor.

“This is more than a gardening talk — it’s a journey into one of nature’s most magical and versatile plants,” Lawson said. “Whether you’re a seasoned gardener or just starting out, you’ll leave inspired and ready to grow garlic like a pro.”
