Ignited by 22 points from Kylie Gonia and two others with double digit rebounds, the Beavers came away with their first victory of the winter, dispatching the Trappers 47-37 at home on Tuesday night.

Gonia was the lone scorer in double figures, but Tenino (2-1) had depth behind her with freshman Alyssa Brodersen adding nine and a trio of others with at least five. Georgia Gore and Charley Jones, both under 5-foot-8, hauled in 11 and 10 rebounds, respectively.

Defensively, Gonia and Jones each recorded four steals. The Beavers will hit the road on Wednesday to battle district opponent La Center.

“The girls got after it; they wanted to cause some mayhem,” Tenino head coach Kirsi Gofinch said. “We got a smart group of kids. They go to war and work so hard.”
