Behind a six-inning gem from Jack Burkhardt, the Beavers moved to 9-0 on the season with a 5-2 triumph over Cle Elum on Tuesday afternoon on the eastern side of the state.

Two runs in the top of the first inning was all Burkhardt needed to cruise to victory. The junior allowed three hits, one unearned run, gave up one walk and struck out 11 Warriors batters in his outing.

Oregon recruit Kellan Knox roped an RBI triple to put Tenino on the board first and he scored on a base hit from Carson Hart. Austin Gonia added an RBI double in the sixth and Will Feltus deposited a two-run home run in the seventh for added insurance.

The Beavers overcame three errors and striking out 10 times in the win. Feltus notched two hits as the top five in their lineup combined to go 6-for-17 at the plate with five RBIs.

“Jack did a great job on the bump for us,” Tenino head coach Ryan Schlesser said. “Cle Elum was tough. Their guy shoved and did a real nice job mixing in off speed. Kept us off balance all day.”

Tenino played two more games on the east side on Wednesday against East Valley and Zillah. It returns home to face Centralia on April 9.
