The Tenino baseball team wrapped up an undefeated spring break trip across the mountains just about in Idaho on Wednesday, downing 1A Newport 8-2.

Mikey Vasser did all the work on the hill for the Beavers, who needed five pitchers to get through their doubleheader sweep of Colville on Tuesday, throwing a complete game. The sophomore gave up a pair of unearned runs in the first three innings, but settled in the rest of the way with four straight shutout frames to end it, finishing with four strikeouts and three hits allowed.

Will Feltus, Austin Gonia, and Jack Burkhardt all had two-hit days at the plate, with Feltus scoring twice, Gonia driving in a pair of runs, and Burkhardt hitting a double. Easton Snider added two RBIs, Kellan Knox scored two runs of his own, and Brody Noonan swiped a pair of bases.

Tenino led 3-2 after three innings of play but separated from its hosts with a five-run fifth, ending the game with 11 hits as a unit.

The Beavers will get the rest of the week off before finally opening 1A Evergreen play Tuesday, hosting Eatonville for a doubleheader.
