The Tenino girls tennis team earned another win on Tuesday, taking down Hoquiam 5-1 on its home courts.
“It's nice to finally have weather cooperating,” Tenino coach Sam Shea said. “And getting to see them use their skills they’ve been working on at practice.”
Alanna Cushing won the closest match of the day in the second singles match, winning the first set 6-2 before losing a tiebreaker to drop the second set. She bounced back to win the third and final set 6-4.
“It was a battle,” Shea said. “They were just going back and forth. Great shots from both of them. It was pretty fun to watch, and she was pretty wiped out by the end of it.”
Kaycee Jones and Leah Noll were up 3-1 in the top doubles match before a Hoquiam player left with an injury, giving the Beaver duo a win.
The Beavers will be at Centralia to face the Tigers on Wednesday before returning home to host Montesano in their return to league play on Thursday.
