Tenino drops home match to Columbia

The Tenino girls tennis team lost a home match against Columbia (White Salmon) on Wednesday, falling 5-1.

Chloe Suess was the lone Beaver winner on the day, winning the third singles match 6-1, 6-2.

“She is just our consistency queen,” Tenino coach Sam Shea said. “She's always putting in the work and varying her shots. It's just fun to watch her out-battle different opponents.”

Shea had to reshuffle the doubles teams a bit, as a few Beavers are dealing with illnesses. As a result, they struggled, dropping all three matches.

“Communication is really important in doubles,” Shea said. “As soon as you’re with someone else, it can be hard to adjust to having someone else on the court.”

Tenino will hit the road on Friday to face Fort Vancouver.

Tenino’s full results from Wednesday:

First singles: Amelia Hays lost 6-7 (4-7), 0-6.

Second singles: Alanna Cushing lost 1-6, 0-6.

Third singles: Chloe Suess won 6-1, 6-2.

First doubles: Leah Noll/Taylor Sturgill lost 4-6, 3-6.

Second doubles: Kyla Watson/Gracie Sweet lost 3-6, 4-6.

Third doubles: Kaycee Jones/Kenya Anderson lost 0-6, 1-6.
