With this year’s annual Tenino Arts Spring Market coinciding with St. Patrick’s Day weekend, five local music groups will join in the festivities.

The three-day event will reveal the newest work of 32 juried artisans in a variety of creative categories, plus the music of live bands playing folk and traditional Celtic and Irish tunes, livening the shopping experience.

“Shopping at the 2024 Tenino Arts Spring Market may result in singing and spontaneous dancing,” organizers said in a news release.

The market runs March 15 to 17 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.  in the Kodiak Room at 225 Sussex Ave. in the historic district of Tenino.

Guitarist Ross Robinson will play from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday, March 15, sharing his blues and folk tunes.

“Ross is a regular at Lady of the Lake and Tenino Arts Markets when he is not playing locations throughout the South Sound and Seattle area,” organizers said in a news release.

Headlining on Saturday, March 16, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. is Tenino's own Rattlin' Bog with the McKenzieSullivan family and friends. They will also perform at the Lady of the Lake that evening.

“Their specialty is lively sea shanties and Irish pub music, and they welcome you to sing along,” organizers stated.

The Tessellators, two families of fathers and daughters often seen and heard at Tugboat Annies Irish session on Wednesday nights, will perform Saturday afternoon.

“There will be toes-a-tapping’ as these fiddles fly,” organizers stated.

To cap off the Saturday fun, Lacey Chamber Music trio will play a collection of Renaissance and Irish music with a splash of Bach in the Subways on flute, fiddle and cello.

On Sunday, shoppers will be immersed in the rich musical traditions of Ireland with session group Shamrock from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. This group has been playing together for years in private homes and has recently been booked at Cup of Swords Tavern in Olympia.

“Each of the instruments, guitar, fiddle, banjo and dulcimer, brings its own unique sound and character to the performance,” organizers stated.

The Spring Market weekend typically brings a few thousand visitors to downtown Tenino and is much-anticipated by local businesses as great exposure to what the small city has to offer, according to a news release.

The Spring Market is a collaboration between Tenino Arts, The Tenino Area Chamber of Commerce, and the Tenino Creative District with the goal of creating opportunities for local artists and creative experiences for the local community.
