Seattle police were searching for suspects Saturday in the stabbing of a 17-year-old girl after responding to an apparent break-in just after midnight in the Delridge neighborhood.

Patrol officers responded at about 12:20 a.m. to reports of a burglary and assault in the 7100 block of 17th Avenue Southwest. They found blood on the door and a girl inside with multiple stab wounds all over her body," according to a police department blotter post Saturday afternoon.

The girl had significant blood loss and was taken to Harborview Medical Center in serious but stable condition, according to the blotter post.

The patrol officers initially thought the people who stabbed the girl were still inside, but a SWAT team searched the house and didn't find the assailants.

While investigating, police learned two teenagers, believed to be a boy and a girl, had run away from the house before the patrol officers arrived.

"This was a violent and heinous assault," Detective Eric Muñoz, a police spokesperson, said in an email. "Our dedicated SPD officers and detectives will do everything they can to locate and arrest the suspects and hold them accountable for their actions.

Police asked anyone with information to call their tip line: 206-233-5000.
