The Morton-White Pass girls basketball team got the better of Onalaska in a close Central 2B League matchup Wednesday, winning in Morton 50-36.

The Loggers (4-5, 1-2 C2BL) closed a nine-point halftime gap to as few as four in the third quarter, but the T-Wolves (5-3, 2-2 C2BL) withstood the run before holding their guests to just one free throw in the entire fourth quarter to seal the win.

McKenzee Mays and Kiera Miller combined to score 24 of MWP’s 31 points in the first half; Miller finished with a game-high 15 points, while Mays had 14 points as well as four steals, five rebounds and two blocks.

In the second half, it was Natalia Armstrong’s job to lead the offense, with nine of her 11 points coming after halftime. She also had six assists.

“I’m super proud of their focus and effort as well as the great job they’re doing working together as a team,” MWP coach Tim Roberts said. “Each game they continue to get better as a team.”

Emalie Jacoby led Onalaska with nine points, and Cierra Berg had eight.

MWP will head to the big stage at the Moda Center in Portland to take on Toledo on Friday, while Onalaska will play at Adna.
