T-Wolves beat Loggers in five

The Morton-White Pass volleyball team had Onalaska on the ropes Tuesday and nearly let it off, but came back just in time to win in five sets, 25-20, 26-24, 22-25, 23-25, 15-5.

“I’m super proud of the girls tonight,” MWP coach Jamie Brazil said. “They pulled together and worked as a team, focusing on that positive mindset and not letting the little errors derail us or take us off track.”

Malia Armstrong dished out eight assists and led the defense with 29 digs, while Natalia Armstrong and Kimberly Gilstrap had 19 digs each. Ryelin Wiedenmann led the offense at the net with eight kills and added two blocks, Amy Martinez posted four assists and Maddie Clevenger logged five kills, four aces and two blocks for the Timberwolves (3-3).

Emalie Jacoby had 20 kills, 26 digs, six assists and two blocks for the Loggers (4-3 . Capri McGraw had 16 digs, Braelyn Babb logged seven assets, and Sommer Zurinskas and Leah Hamilton both had four kills.

“Every night out this team learns something,” Onalaska coach Susan Gordon said. “The lesson tonight: When you have the lead and the momentum, don’t give it up.”

Onalaska will open conference play Thursday at Wahkiakum, while MWP will host Kalama in Randle.to get C2BL action underway.
