For the first time in nine years, the Morton-White Pass girls basketball team is headed to the district quarterfinals.

The T-Wolves punched their ticket to the quarters with a dominant win on Saturday, as they doubled up Chief Leschi 56-28 in Montesano.

It was just a two-point game after one, but MWP pulled away by outscoring Chief Leschi 19-3 in the second quarter.

MWP’s defense allowed just 12 points in the first half, and it never allowed the Warriors to get back within striking distance. By the end of the game, the T-Wolves had held Chief Leschi to a mark of just 7 for 40 from the floor, and they had forced 25 turnovers.

Ryelin Wiedenmann led the T-Wolves with 18 points on 6 for 14 shooting, including 13 points in the second quarter, while Malia Armstrong scored 12. Layna Sams scored a career-high nine, while Chevy Fuller added six.

Haylee Morgan and Kiera Miller scored four apiece, and Jadyn Holmes tallied three.

MWP (11-10) will look to make its first semifinal since 2014 on Tuesday, when it takes on Rainier at Castle Rock in the quarterfinals.
