Led by Carlos Matheney’s dominant day on the ground, the Tumwater football team defeated Rochester on the road Friday night, 56-7.
Matheney totaled 123 yards on the ground on just nine carries with three total touchdowns. Logan Cole added 95 yards and two more scores on nine carries, and the Thunderbirds managed 333 total yards of rushing offense. Alex Overbay added a scoring toss to Derek Thompson, and Ethan Kastner had another touchdown pass to Nick Lowery.
The Warriors’ only score was a kick return in the first half for a touchdown after the T-Birds opening touchdown drive, and were otherwise stuffed, totaling minus-3 total yards of offense.
Rochester will end its season next Friday against Tenino in the Scatter Creek Showdown, while Tumwater takes on Black Hills in the Pioneer Bowl.
