T-Birds Trip Up Against Highclimbers

Posted

After winning its first three games of the season, the Tumwater baseball team has dropped its last three games, with the latest being a Tuesday defeat to Shelton, 5-1, on the road.

The Thunderbirds had one hit through six innings, and couldn’t get anything going on offense. Ryan Orr knocked in a late RBI to put the T-Birds on the board, but it wasn’t enough to overcome a five-run deficit in the defeat, dropping Tumwater to 3-3 and 1-2 in league play.

After a 17 strikeout game against Black Hills last week, Jordan Hanson couldn’t replicate that success on the mound, lasting two innings and striking out four, but giving up an earned run and another two runs on errors given to infielders.

On the other end, Cannon Hutson for the Highclimbers couldn’t be touched, pitching a complete game, allowing one run and striking out five, with just three hits to his name.

The T-Birds will look to bounce back against Shelton Wednesday at home at 4:30 p.m.
