T-Birds run past Tigers

The Tumwater girls basketball team started strong and didn’t slow down until the night was well out of reach at Centralia on Thursday, beating the Tigers 66-20 to wrap up the first dose of league action for both teams.

The Thunderbirds (5-0, 4-0 2A EvCo) hit 20 points in each of the first two quarters, going into halftime up 44-14, and after going on a 15-6 run in the third, shut their hosts out for the entire fourth.

Rhylee Beebe and Regan Brewer shared the scoring lead for Tumwater with 14 points apiece; both had four rebounds, and Brewer also finished with four assists and four steals.

Elsa Schrek and Makenzie Kolb both added 10 points.

Brooklyn Sprague led Centralia with six points.

Tumwater is set to wrap up the year with five non-league matchups, starting with a trip to 1A Montesano on Saturday. Centralia is set to be off until Monday, when it hosts 3A Mountain View.
