Ignited by three interceptions and two fumble recoveries, the Tumwater High School football team posted their first goose egg of the season, a 48-0 verdict over Union at home on Friday night.
Ethan Bello snared two interceptions and Landon Anchors had a pick-six. Tyler Briscoe, to pair with his 52 rushing yards and a score, picked up a fumble. Wyatt Chase did so, too. Head coach Willy Garrow felt the unit “played lights out.”
“Great performance by those defenders and the coaching staff in getting them prepared,” Garrow said. “They were upset with the way they played last week at Nooksack Valley and they really responded well.”
Tumwater scored 35 of its 48 points in the middle two stanzas. Blake Heryford led the way with 65 yards and a scorer while Gavin Kaikkonen added 57 yards. Quarterback Jaxon Budd finished with 80 yards passing.
The T-Birds will open the Evergreen Conference slate next week versus county foe Black Hills.
