One goal ended up being enough for the Tumwater boys soccer team, which earned its second close league win in a row with a 1-0 victory over W.F. West at home Tuesday.

Gabe O’Connor gave the Thunderbirds the decisive goal, scoring in the 60th minute after an hour of scoreless soccer.

Hayden Sciera came away with 10 saves for the Bearcats, who dropped their second straight league game, behind a solid back line performance led by Cameron Kunz.

“Hard way to start league, with two losses on the road, but it’s a long season, and we’ll learn from this tough early stretch,” WFW coach Allen Anderson said.

Tumwater will stay at home Wednesday to host Shelton, while W.F. West will welcome Centralia to Chehalis for a dose of rivalry action.
