The Tumwater baseball team couldn’t keep pace offensively with Capital on Monday, as the Thunderbirds lost their opener 11-7.
The T-Birds were able to respond twice early, tying it at two in the bottom of the first and at five with a three-spot in the bottom of the third.
Capital added three more in both the fourth and fifth, and Tumwater wasn’t able to get back any more outside of a run in the fourth and seventh.
Derek Thompson went 1 for 3 with a home run and two runs batted in, and Cody Lambert also drove in two. Charlie Crawford was the only T-Birds with multiple hits. He went 2 for 3 with a walk, and he scored a run.
Luke Overbay and Jimmy Womach both pitched scoreless innings in relief, combining for five strikeouts in the final two frames of the game.
Tumwater (0-1) will look to get its first win at the Regional Athletic Complex in Lacey against Olympia on Wednesday.
