T-Birds Can’t Erase Early Hole in Loss to Papermakers

Dropping its second game in as many days, the Tumwater baseball team couldn’t quite dig itself out of a 6-0 hole in a 6-2 loss to 4A Camas on the road Friday evening.

Derek Thompson and Alex Overbay each recorded late RBIs in the fifth and sixth innings, but ultimately, the Thunderbirds (3-2, 1-1 2A EvCo) couldn’t get enough runners across home plate in the defeat.

The T-Birds racked up more hits than the Papermakers, getting eight knocks to Camas’ six, but just couldn’t convert runners into runs.

Blake Smith, Overbay, and Thompson combined for four strikeouts and three earned runs.

The Thunderbirds will look to rebound against Timberline next Friday.
