T-Birds blow by Bobcats to stay in hunt for EvCo title

Fueled by three in double figures and allowing under 10 points in two quarters, the Tumwater High School boys basketball team secured an important 65-36 victory over Aberdeen on Wednesday night in an Evergreen Conference tussle.

It sets up a shot for the Thunderbirds (14-5, 7-2 EvCo) to, at the minimum, tie for the league title. They would need to beat Shelton and have Black Hills lose to Aberdeen for a share to occur.

A 10-point lead after the opening eight minutes ballooned to 21 at the half and Tumwater never looked back. It came down with 43 rebounds, blocked six shots and registered 12 steals. Sophomore Julian Balsley recorded a game-best 17 points while Bryce Morgan and Braeden Konrad notched 12 and 11 points, respectively.

The T-Birds close the regular season at Shelton before the district tournament commences next week.
