An ATV driver died after his vehicle collided with an SUV late Saturday in Clark County, police said.

Officials said the 39-year-old ATV driver was not wearing a helmet or other protective equipment.

The crash took place around 11:30 p.m. at the intersection of Northeast 76th Street and Northeast 137th Avenue, a Sunday news release from the Clark County Sheriff’s Office said.

A 2008 Ford Escape SUV was headed east on Northeast 76th Street and trying to turn left to go north on Northeast 137th Avenue, the release said.

As it turned left, it collided with a 2003 Kawasaki ATV that was headed west on Northeast 76th Street, the release said.

Officials said alcohol may have been a factor for the ATV rider. The Escape’s driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with officials, the release said.

The Clark County Sheriff’s Office traffic homicide unit is investigating the crash, the release said.
