Police on Saturday arrested an alleged Portland drug dealer after he fell asleep while driving his truck. Officers found almost 100 grams of fentanyl, a loaded gun and more than $2,000 inside the truck, court records say.

Anthony Reed Ritchey, 42, is accused of unlawful delivery and unlawful possession of fentanyl, being a felon in possession of a firearm and DUII, court records show.

Police were dispatched to a stretch of North Vancouver Way near the Jubitz Truck Stop in North Portland after callers reported that a white pickup truck was idling in the southbound lane of the road.

When officers arrived, they found a “very unconscious” Ritchey slumped over in his truck, with his foot on the brake of the still-running vehicle, which was in drive, court records state.

After police woke him up, Ritchey struggled to turn the truck off, but he complied with officer demands and got out of the car, according to court records.

Officers searched the truck and found 95.5 grams of fentanyl, an electronic scale, unused ziploc bags, $2,499 in cash and a gun, court records show.

Ritchey admitted to police that he’d consumed fentanyl about two hours before he fell asleep in the truck, court records allege. He has no prior felony convictions in Oregon, but he was previously convicted of cocaine possession in Florida in 2013.
