A Hummer H3 that was seen with the driver allegedly casing houses in Chehalis on Tuesday was found abandoned in Olympia following a police pursuit, the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office reported.

The Hummer, driven by an unidentified male suspect, reportedly fled from Chehalis police north on Interstate 5 into Thurston County, where a Washington State Patrol trooper attempted a traffic stop on the vehicle, according to a Tuesday afternoon social media post by Thurston County Sheriff Derek Sanders.

The vehicle failed to stop and a pursuit was initiated, Sanders stated.

“Near the 110 mile marker, the Hummer slammed on the brakes, turned around, and began driving the wrong way down I-5. I was trailing the pursuit and started a rolling slow down to try and prevent a fatal collision,” Sanders wrote.

The driver of the Hummer reportedly crossed the median after seeing traffic stopped and fled toward College Street. About 30 minutes later, North Thurston Public Schools called to report that the Hummer had been abandoned in their parking lot and was still running.

“K9 Asher responded to the scene and conducted a good track through the school properties and out to Martin Way where we believe the suspect was picked up,” Sanders wrote, adding, “K9 Asher’s track led us to some awesome video surveillance footage.”

The Hummer has since been impounded and police are asking the public for help identifying the suspect.

“If you recognize the man-bun equipped suspect pictured below, we would absolutely love to speak with him. You can call in tips to 360-704-2740,” Sanders stated in the post, which included a photo of the suspect taken from surveillance footage.
