Support sought for Toledo woman after oxygen tank explosion leads to house fire

Woman hospitalized: Family member says fire destroyed ‘absolutely everything’ in home

A GoFundMe crowdfunding campaign has been set up to support a hospitalized woman whose Toledo home was destroyed Monday following an oxygen tank explosion and subsequent fire.

The online fundraiser, created by Sahara Jacobson, seeks $2,000 in donations.

According to Jacobson, her grandmother Rose was transported in critical condition to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle following the incident off state Route 505.

Jacobson told The Chronicle on Tuesday that Rose had been intubated and was in the hospital’s intensive care unit.

She said the fire destroyed “absolutely everything.”

“Absolutely every single thing Grandma owned was destroyed in the blaze,” Jacobson said on the GoFundMe page.

“Decades of memories are just gone. Every photo album, holiday card, every piece of jewelry, every drawing her grandkids ever colored for her, all of her clothing and daily necessities — gone.”

Jacobson said her aunt, uncle and cousins — who lived in the home — have also been affected by the house fire.

“They literally only have the clothes on their backs,” Jacobson told The Chronicle.

Jacobson said she started the fundraiser to “take some of the pressure off” her family.

“Rose and her family are never ones to ask for help, but they will be the first to jump in to help others,” Jacobson said on the GoFundMe page.

According to Jacobson, all funds will go toward food, temporary shelter, clothing, shoes and hygiene products for the family, as well as travel to and from the hospital.

“If you cannot donate, please consider sharing this page and keeping Rose and our family in your thoughts and prayers,” Jacobson said. “We appreciate every single bit of support more than words can say.”
