Stormy Weather to Continue in Western Washington Through Tuesday

Posted

After a storm system moved into Western Washington on Sunday night, a report from the National Weather Service Seattle office stated the region is set to see more rain, snow and wind through early Tuesday.

“Expect 1 to 2 feet of snow at the Cascade passes Sunday night through early Tuesday, with higher amounts in the higher elevations. This snow, along with strong winds, may create poor visibility, difficult travel and dangerous conditions,” the report stated. “While the strongest winds will be along the coast and near the inland waters, much of the area will likely experience gusty winds from late Sunday through late Monday or early Tuesday. This prolonged period of gusty winds may lead to greater impacts than would otherwise be expected at these wind speeds.”

Because of the stormy weather, the Northwest Avalanche Center also reported potentially “very dangerous” conditions in the mountains on Monday and Tuesday.

“For you sun lovers … forecast is predicting in the low 70's on Thursday. Hang tight … the nice weather is coming,” read a Facebook post from Lewis County Emergency Management.

The department continues to post timely updates on its page.
