State Track: Pullin Qualifies for 110 Hurdle Finals

TACOMA — Aaron Pullin took second in the preliminary round of the 110-meter hurdles here Thursday in the State 2A Track & Field Championships.

Pullin, a senior from Centralia, won his heat and had the second-best preliminary time in the event at 14.69 seconds — just behind West Valley (Spokane) senior Mac Baxter, who had the fastest qualifying time at 14.63 seconds.

Pullin will run in the finals Friday evening, and will compete in the high jump and pole vault Friday. He'll also run the 200-meter preliminaries on Friday evening.

Centralia's Kary Sathre and Rochester's Kendra Sanford both competed in the preliminary rounds of the girls 100-meter hurdles, but were unable to finish in the top eight and move on to Friday's finals.

Rochester's girls 4x200 relay team (Sanford, Alexa Black, Sharon Smith and Brianna Tomtan) did not advance past preliminaries.

CHENEY — Toledo's Daniel Echtle had the fastest time in the 300-meter hurdles preliminary race here Thursday at Eastern Washington University in the State 2B Track & Field Championships.

Echtle finished in 41.58 seconds, just one-hundredth of a second ahead of Waitsburg-Prescott's Cobie Brown. Pe Ell's Tyler Justice was fifth in the preliminaries. The 300 hurdle finals will be run on Saturday.

Onalaska's Riley Girt finished 10th in the 1600.

In 2B girls action, Napavine freshman Mollie Olson posted the third-best preliminary time in the 300 hurdles at 47.53 seconds. Northwest Christian (Lacey) sophomore Heidi Sowers had the best preliminary time, at 46.82 seconds. The finals will be run on Saturday.

Mossyrock's Alicia Herrera was seventh in the 3200, in 12 minutes, 19 seconds, while Onalaska's Bernie Hayden finished 10th (12:52).
