Southwest Washington Dance Center to Host 29th Annual Dance Festival Northwest on March 18

The Southwest Washington Dance Center is hosting the 29th annual Dance Festival Northwest on Saturday, March 18, at 7 p.m.

Dance Festival Northwest brings dance companies from around the region to the Twin Cities area. Dancers attend classes together as a group and then each company performs dance pieces they have prepared during a performance at Centralia College’s Corbet Theatre. This year’s performance will include diverse forms of dance, including contemporary and classical ballet on point, modern and contemporary, jazz ballroom, and hip hop.

Chehalis’ Southwest Washington Dance Ensemble will host the event under the direction of Danielle Brosco and Brianna Jones.

For over 40 years, the Southwest Washington Dance Ensemble has brought dance to the Lewis County area. The ensemble has performed at the Lewis County Community Concerts, the Miss Lewis County Pageant, The Nutcracker Ballet, the Northwest Wind Symphony and the Merce Cunningham Tribute. It has also performed at Dancepalooza in Seattle, the Dance to Make a Difference Charity Gala and the Olympia Dance Festival. The ensemble also tours every spring with a production for elementary schools in the Lewis County and south Thurston County areas.

Visiting companies to this year’s festival Ballet Northwest from Olympia, Centralia Ballet Academy Company, Evergreen City Ballet from Renton, Luminary Dance Academy from Longview, Maple Valley School of Ballet from Bothell, Olympic Ballroom Dance from Olympia and Studio West Dance Theatre from Olympia.
