The Tenino volleyball team took a set but couldn’t come away with more in a four-set loss to Montesano on Thursday, 25-15, 18-25, 25-14, 25-17.

“We came out sluggish,” Tenino coach Shauna Carpenter said. “And against teams like Monte, you just can’t do that.”

Jaeleen Woodward had 13 digs to lead the Beaver defense, while Brookelynn Bratton had 12, Katen Burkhardt had 11 and Macy Griffis had six.

Bratton put down 12 kills as well, while Burkhardt had nine assists, three kills and two blocks and Griffis dished out 10 assists.

Briana Asay and Kylee Pietrich both had four kills, and Sophia Hussey had two kills and two blocks.

Tenino will hit the home stretch of the regular season Tuesday, at Elma for the first of three final league games.

“It’s all-out from here,” Carpenter said.
