Slow start dooms Tigers in loss to Bobcats

The Centralia girls basketball team couldn’t overcome its slow start against Aberdeen on Friday, as the Tigers fell to the Bobcats 78-54.

Aberdeen led after the first quarter 20-7, and in the second, the Tigers (0-4, 0-1 2A EvCo) made the smallest of dents into that margin to go into the locker room down 12.

The Bobcat offense exploded in the third, as they put up 27 points to pull away. The Tigers scored 31 points in the second half, but just couldn’t keep up with an Aberdeen unit that found a rhythm.

Brooklyn Sprauge led the Tigers with 19 points and Makayla Chavez tallied 15. Aubrie Buitenbos added eight.

The Tigers hit the road on Tuesday, when they’ll travel to Rochester for a matchup with the Warriors.
