Sirens: Woman sentenced for assaulting family members; guilty plea in Randle burglary; man tries to instigate fight with bus staff

Sentencings

• Paulette K. Norman, 65, Onalaska, was sentenced Feb. 18 to 364 days in jail with 362 days suspended for two years and two days of credit for time served after entering an Alford plea for one count of fourth-degree assault, domestic violence. A second count of fourth-degree assault was dropped as part of the plea deal. Alford pleas are guilty pleas that acknowledge the prosecution’s likely ability to secure a conviction in a trial. They do not, however, serve as an official admission of guilt from the defendant. Domestic violence no-contact orders were entered on behalf of the victims. According to court documents, the defendant may return home once the protected parties are no longer living there. • Jonathan R. Harper, 46, Centralia, was sentenced Feb. 19 to 20 days in jail with 11 days of credit for time served after pleading guilty to one count of second-degree theft. A second count of second-degree burglary was dismissed as recommended by the prosecution. Harper was previously accused of participating in the overnight burglary of a Randle business. CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT

Arrests

• Christopher Urga, 54, Anna Castellano, 45, Abdul Hamim, 53, and Elsa Tsehaye, 35, of King County, were arrested near the 100 block of West High Street at about 5:19 p.m. Feb. 23 and booked into the Lewis County Jail for second-degree theft and organized retail theft after allegedly working together to shoplift from a local business. Police also arrested Urga for alleged possession of a stolen motor vehicle and eluding a law enforcement officer.

• Zachery Wilson, 42, Onalaska, was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail for unlawful transit conduct, disorderly conduct, obstructing a law enforcement officer and use or delivery of drug paraphernalia after he allegedly attempted to instigate a fight with Lewis County Transit staff at a bus stop in the 900 block of Old Airport Way at about 5:19 p.m. Feb. 24.

Accidents

• A driver collided with a parked vehicle in the 900 block of North Pearl Street at about 5:47 a.m. Feb. 23. No injuries were reported.

• A two-vehicle collision was reported near the corner of North Pearl Street and Burt Avenue at about 7:37 a.m. Feb. 23. No injuries were reported.

• A hit-and-run collision was reported in the area of the Centralia College campus in the 500 block of West Pear Street at about 8:59 a.m. Feb. 24. After investigation, officers determined the vehicle that was reportedly hit sustained no damage.

Criminal trespass

• A male subject was reported jumping over railroad tracks attempting to cross before a train at the corner of South Pearl Street and Jefferson Street at about 10:21 a.m. Feb. 24. Officers checked the area and were unable to locate the subject.

• A Centralia man was notified he was trespassed from a property in the 300 block of Linda Lane at about 11:07 a.m. Feb. 24 after the homeowner reportedly told officers the man was “creeping in their yard” and whistling to get their kids to come out the night prior.

Drug paraphernalia

• Joshua Blankenship, 37, Centralia, was arrested and booked into the Chehalis Tribal Jail for an open alcohol container violation and use or delivery of drug paraphernalia after he was allegedly found consuming alcohol in public and possessing drug paraphernalia in the 200 block of West Main Street at about 12:41 a.m. Feb. 25.

Identity theft

• ​​Officers investigated a case of identity theft and forgery in the 200 block of Centralia College Boulevard at about 10:31 a.m. Feb. 23. According to police, a subject is sending mail and packages to others under the identity of the victim.



Robbery

• A robbery at a local business was reported in the 1300 block of Lum Road at about 3:37 p.m. Feb. 24. The case is under investigation.

Theft

• A PlayStation was reportedly stolen from a residence in the 900 block of Long Road at about 10:01 a.m. Feb. 23.

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT

Criminal trespass

• James G. White was arrested in the 100 block of Southwest Interstate Avenue at about 12:52 a.m. Feb. 25 and booked into the Lewis County Jail on one count of alleged first-degree criminal trespass.

DUI

• Montana G. Eastman, 32, Morton, was issued a criminal citation and booked into jail for allegedly driving under the influence in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at about 10:41 p.m. Feb. 21.

JAIL STATISTICS

• As of Feb. 25, the Lewis County Jail had a total facility population of 182 inmates, including 169 in the general population and 13 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of the general population inmates, 142 were reported male and 27 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 11 were reported male and two were reported female.

• As of Feb. 23, the Chehalis Tribal Jail had a total jail population of 13 inmates. Of those, three were from Centralia and seven were from the Department of Corrections. Additionally, there was one each from the Skokomish Tribe, the Suquamish Tribe and the Chehalis Tribe.
