CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT
Theft
• A 36-year-old Vancouver woman was arrested for organized retail theft in the 100 block of West High Street just after 4:25 p.m. on Feb. 28 after officers reportedly caught her stealing from several different stores. A juvenile was also involved and has been referred on charges, according to the Centralia Police Department.
• A vehicle was reported stolen from the 1400 block of Harrison Avenue just before 2:40 a.m. on March 2.
Malicious mischief
• A broken window at a business in the 100 block of Harrison Avenue was reported at 7:45 a.m. on March 1. The case is under investigation.
• A 45-year-old Centralia man was arrested for damaging a stranger’s fence in the 300 block of Union Street at 6:15 p.m. on March 1. He was also arrested on outstanding Centralia Municipal Court warrants.
Criminal trespass
• A homeless Cowlitz County resident who reportedly tried to set up camp on private property in the 500 block of South Tower Avenue just before 12 p.m. on March 1 was trespassed from the property.
• A homeless Centralia resident was trespassed from a business in the 1200 block of Lum Road at approximately 2:05 p.m. on March 1 for disorderly conduct.
• A homeless Centralia resident was trespassed from a business in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue just after 5:15 p.m. on March 1 for disorderly conduct.
• A homeless Centralia resident was trespassed from a residence in the 1200 block of South Tower Avenue at approximately 11 p.m. on March 1 for disorderly conduct.
Burglary
• A burglary at a vacant residence in the 300 block of South Diamond Street just before 2:10 p.m. on March 1. Stolen property from another case was found inside, but no suspects were located, according to the Centralia Police Department.
• A 38-year-old Centralia man was arrested for burglary and violation of a protection order in the 700 block of Euclid Way just after 8:55 p.m. on March 2.
DUI
• A 31-year-old Centralia man was arrested for DUI, driving without a valid license and resisting arrest in the 500 block of Warren Street at approximately 9:45 p.m. on March 1.
• A 33-year-old Centralia man was arrested for felony DUI and attempting to elude law enforcement in the 3000 block of Harrison Avenue just after 6 a.m. on March 3.
Drug violations
• A 37-year-old Kennewick woman was arrested for possession of suspected meth and drug paraphernalia in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue at 6:40 a.m. on March 2.
• A 23-year-old Centralia woman and a 33-year-old Chehalis man were arrested for possession of large amounts of suspected fentanyl and meth, along with other items indicative of selling narcotics, in the 1100 block of Eckerson Road at approximately 12:40 p.m. on March 2. The Centralia woman was also arrested on an outstanding Department of Corrections warrant.
CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT
Criminal trespass
• A subject was arrested for trespassing in the 1100 block of Northwest Shoreline Drive just after 10:10 a.m. on Feb. 28.
Drug violation
• A W.F. West High School student was cited for possession of a marijuana pen in the 300 block of Southwest 16th Street at approximately 10:40 a.m. on Feb. 28.
Fraud
• Possible identity theft was reported in the 500 block of Southwest Riverside Drive just before 3 p.m. on Feb. 28.
• An online scam was reported in the 100 block of Southwest Eighth Street at 4:25 p.m. on Feb. 28.
Disputes
• A verbal domestic dispute was reported in the 10 block of Northeast Boistfort Street just after 4:50 p.m. on Feb. 28.
Suspicious circumstances
• A homeless man with a hammer and a homeless man with a machete were reportedly walking down the street and hitting poles in the 400 block of Southwest William Avenue at approximately 6:05 p.m. on Feb. 28.
• A citizen reported their grandmother “has been making a scene” in the 1000 block of Southwest 20th Street just after 4:05 p.m. on March 1.
• A man who was “convinced he owned Southwest Pacific Avenue” asked officers to tow a vehicle that was parked on the roadway near the 500 block of Southwest Parkland Drive just before 7:40 p.m. on March 1. Officers confirmed the vehicle was parked legally on a public road. The man reportedly told the officer “he will just tow it,” and the officer “explained that it would be theft to do so,” according to the Chehalis Police Department.
• A man reportedly told staff at a business in the 10 block of Southwest Chehalis Avenue that he “wants to talk to an officer to confess” at approximately 1:35 a.m. on March 2.
• A citizen reported a man was trying to hit him with a hatchet in the 10 block of SOuthwest Chehalis Avenue just after 9:45 a.m. on March 2. Witnesses “said nothing happened,” according to the Chehalis Police Department.
• Three adults were reportedly talking to a group of children about “changing their names” and about one of the adults pretending to be the children’s mom in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just before 12:10 p.m. on March 2.
Criminal trespass
• Subjects in a car that was in a parking lot in the 600 block of Northwest Arkansas Way for a couple of hours were moved along just after 7:20 p.m. on Feb. 28.
• A man who was camped out under the stairwell on post office property in the 200 block of Northwest Cascade Avenue was moved along just after 9:55 p.m. on Feb. 28.
• Three subjects were trespassed from a property in the 2100 block of North National Avenue just after 8 p.m. on March 2.
Harassment
• An ongoing issue involving a subject being harassed by their brother-in-law was reported in the 700 block of Northwest Maryland Avenue just after 8:05 p.m. on Feb. 28.
• Harassment reported in the 1500 block of Southwest William Avenue at approximately 11:25 a.m. on March 1 is under investigation.
• A man said he was possibly being stalked at the intersection of Northwest Shoreline Drive and Northwest Louisiana Avenue just before 10:35 p.m. on March 1. An officer noted that the man “appeared to be making nonsensical statements” and determined no crime had occurred.
Animal neglect/abuse
• A woman was seen possibly hitting a dog and pulling the dog by its collar inside a vehicle in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 11:45 a.m. on March 1.
• Between eight and 10 possibly neglected cats were reported at a residence in the 500 block of Northwest Pennsylvania Avenue at 6:15 p.m. on March 2. The reporting party advised that four children live at the residence.
Indecent exposure
• A man and a woman were cited for indecent exposure at 1:30 p.m. on March 1 after a citizen reported seeing them “on the grass having sex across from her house” in the 400 block of Southwest 13th Street.
Theft
• Shoplifting was reported in the 500 block of South Market Boulevard just after 5:40 p.m. on March 1.
Assault
• Second-degree assault reported in the 300 block of Southwest Third Street just after 6:10 p.m. on March 1 is under investigation.
Burglary
• A man was arrested for breaking windows and trying to break into a property in the 10 block of Northeast Cascade Avenue just before 3:25 a.m. on March 2.
Hit-and-run
• A hit-and-run was reported in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just before 9:05 a.m. on March 2.
Vehicle accident
• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported in the 1100 block of North National Avenue just after 3:45 p.m. on March 2.
Public works
• A citizen reported he hit a water line while putting up a fence in the 1000 block of Southeast Washington Avenue just after 10:05 a.m. on March 2. No damage was reported.
Malicious mischief
• A citizen reported that someone threw something through the bedroom window of a residence in the 300 block of Southwest Third Street at approximately 1:50 a.m. on March 3.
FIRE AND EMS CALLS
• Between Friday morning and Monday morning, Lewis County 911 Communications logged approximately 48 illness-related calls, 20 injury-related calls, 12 fire-related calls, nine non-emergency service calls, four vehicle accidents, three overdoses, one Lifeline medical alert, one medical helicopter request and eight other calls.
JAIL STATISTICS
• As of Monday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 156 inmates, including 143 in the general population and 13 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 109 were reported male and 34 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 11 were reported male and two were reported female.
• As of Monday morning, the Chehalis Tribal Jail had a total system population of 22 inmates, including eight booked by the Centralia Police Department, nine booked by the state Department of Corrections, one booked by the Tulalip Tribe, one booked by the Skokomish Tribe, one booked by Chehalis Tribal Law Enforcement and two booked by the Lummi Nation.
