Sirens: Woman charged with 'offering a false instrument for filing or record'; man found passed out in vehicle; inmate caught with narcotics

LEWIS COUNTY SUPERIOR COURT

Preliminary appearance

• Lisa M. Cornell-Weston, 55, Centralia, made a preliminary appearance April 27 for two counts of forgery and one count of offering a false instrument for filing or record. A judge released Cornell-Weston on her own recognizance. According to court documents, Cornell-Weston is accused of forging and filing a letter in court from a nurse practitioner explaining why someone might “smell bad” or like alcohol after receiving a “Meyer's Cocktail” intravenous nutrient therapy. According to a person who had filed a petition against the defendant, Cornell-Weston, a mental health counselor, had allegedly been reported to the state Department of Health for working with clients while intoxicated. Cornell-Weston is also accused of forging an invoice related to the intravenous treatment. She is scheduled for an arraignment on May 7.

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT

Arrests

• Jason J. Benka, 41, Rochester, was arrested in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue at about 2:07 p.m. April 27 for allegedly stealing items from a local store. When contacted by police, Benka allegedly lied about his identity.

• Clark C. Crow, 46, Winlock, was arrested and booked for possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver in the 1000 block of South Yew Street at about 4:38 p.m. April 27. Police reportedly contacted Crow while he was passed out in his vehicle in the WinCo parking lot. A police K9 responded to the scene and detected the odor of narcotics on Crow’s vehicle. An executed search warrant on the vehicle allegedly yielded drugs and items used to distribute those drugs.

• Orval Chancy, 64, Centralia, was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail for alleged first-degree criminal trespass and use or delivery of drug paraphernalia in the 900 block of East Locust Street at about 9:15 p.m. April 28. Chancy was allegedly found inside a red-tagged uninhabitable building with a methamphetamine smoking pipe.

Accidents

• A three-vehicle collision was reported in the 1000 block of Belmont Avenue at about 5:06 p.m. April 27.

Assault

• A juvenile female was arrested in the 2800 block of Russell Road at about 5:16 p.m. April 28 and booked into the Lewis County Juvenile Detention Center for fourth-degree assault (domestic violence) and harassment (domestic violence) after allegedly assaulting and threatening physical violence against a household/family member.

Drug paraphernalia

• Candice N. Aho, 36, Yakima, was arrested in the 1200 block of South Gold Street at about 4:50 p.m. April 28 and booked into the Chehalis Tribal Jail on multiple Centralia Municipal Court warrants. Police allegedly located drug paraphernalia on Aho at the time of arrest.

Criminal trespass

• A transient individual was trespassed from private property in the 600 block of South Tower Avenue at about 10:25 a.m. April 27.

• Tara Brennan, 37, Centralia, was issued a criminal citation for first-degree criminal trespass after allegedly being found in a red-tagged uninhabitable building in the 900 block of East Locust Street at about 9:15 p.m. April 28.

Fraud

• Officers received a fraud complaint in the 1300 block of Harrison Avenue at about 10:01 a.m. April 27. The case is under investigation.



Hit-and-run

• A hit-and-run collision was investigated in the 500 block of North Pearl Street at about 8:12 a.m. April 27.

Malicious mischief

•  Damage to property was discovered in the 600 block of Centralia College Boulevard at about 12:52 p.m. April 27. No suspects were known at the time.

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT

Arrests

• Donald L. Thayer was arrested in the 400 block of North Market Boulevard at about 11:47 p.m. April 24 and booked into the Lewis County Jail for one count of alleged possession of a controlled substance by a prisoner.

• Brenton N. Klasen was issued a criminal citation and booked into the Lewis County Jail for one count of alleged third-degree theft in the 600 block of West Main Street at about 3:25 a.m. April 27.

• Ivan I. Mendez was issued a criminal citation and booked into the Lewis County Jail for one count of alleged fourth-degree assault (domestic violence) in the 200 block of Southwest Second Street at about 8:04 p.m. April 28.

Drug paraphernalia

• Dean V. Goodrich was issued a criminal citation for alleged first-degree driving while license suspended and possession of drug paraphernalia in the 500 block of Northwest Pennsylvania Avenue at about 12:20 a.m. April 25.

JAIL STATISTICS

• As of April 29, the Lewis County Jail had a total facility population of 148 inmates, including 134 in the general population and 14 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of the general population inmates, 115 were reported male and 19 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 11 were reported male and three were reported female.

• As of April 29, the Chehalis Tribal Jail had a total jail population of 15 inmates. Of those, seven were from Centralia and five were from the Department of Corrections. Additionally, there was one each from the Quileute Nation, the Shoalwater Bay Tribe and the Chehalis Tribal Court.
