Sirens: Woman agrees to wear pants; Juveniles beat elderly homeless man; Burglary at attorney's office; 'Dancing on top of her vehicle'

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT 

Indecent exposure 

• Officers were dispatched just before 8:35 a.m. on July 28 to a report of a homeless woman walking through a residential neighborhood at the intersection of South Diamond and East Plum streets with no pants on. Officers located the woman, “who was not wearing pants but was not exposed due to her donning a large sweatshirt,” according to the Centralia Police Department. The woman was given a warning and she agreed to put on pants. 

 

Theft 

• A vehicle containing tools and other personal property was reported stolen from the 1300 block of Harrison Avenue at 10:55 a.m. on July 28. 

• A female suspect reportedly shoplifted items from a shoe outlet in the 100 block of West High Street just before 6:50 p.m. on July 28 and fled in a silver Ford Fusion. 

• A 42-year-old Centralia woman was cited for third-degree theft just after 8:50 a.m. on July 29 after a property owner in the 1000 block of South Gold Street reported an extension cord plugged into his building was powering a trailer across the road. 

• At 9:50 a.m. on July 29, a 2001 Silver Subaru Legacy with the Washington license plate BTT8262 was reported stolen from the 200 block of North Ash Street sometime overnight.

• Just after 5:40 p.m. on July 29, items were reported stolen from a shed in the 1700 block of North Pearl Street by a previous resident. The case is under investigation. 

• A firearm was reported stolen from the 1300 block of St. Helens Street just after 6:45 a.m. on July 30. The case is under investigation. 

 

Fraud 

• Just before 2:05 p.m. on July 30, a caller in the 900 block of West Main Street reported they made a down payment on Offer Up for an item and paid for shipping but received a fake shipping confirmation and never received the item.

 

Vehicle accidents 

• A logging truck reportedly knocked down a power/cable line at the intersection of Oxford Avenue and Warsaw Street just after 2:35 p.m. on July 28. 

• A car reportedly backed into another car in the 300 block of Lowe Street just after 2:10 p.m. on July 29. One driver was issued an infraction for having no proof of insurance. 

 

Hit-and-run 

• Just before 2:50 p.m. on July 30, a hit-and-run that took place at the intersection of Yew and Mellen streets the day prior was reported. 

• A 38-year-old Chehalis man was cited for hit-and-run to an unattended vehicle in the 400 block of South Pearl Street just before 4:20 a.m. on July 31 after he collided with a parked trailer and left the scene. 

 

Criminal trespass 

• Just before 4:40 p.m. on July 28, there was a report of homeless people going into an abandoned house in the 300 block of East Pine Street. 

• Officers were dispatched just after 9:50 a.m. on July 29 to a report of a homeless woman trespassing at a business in the 1100 block of View Avenue. The woman was gone when officers arrived. 

• A 32-year-old woman from Forest Grove, Oregon, was cited for trespassing in the 100 block of North Gold Street just before 7:55 p.m. on July 29. 

• Just before 10:40 a.m. on July 30, a 32-year-old Lakewood man was cited for a third-degree theft that occurred at a business in the 500 block of South Tower Avenue on July 27. The suspect had returned to the business, at which time he was identified as the suspect in the theft and was trespassed from the business.  

 

Assault 

• Just after 12:30 a.m. on July 29, officers responded to a report of three juveniles beating up an elderly homeless man outside of Borst Park in the 1000 block of Belmont Avenue. The case is under investigation. 

 

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT 

Dispute 

• Just after 8:20 a.m. on July 28, a verbal dispute that occurred at about 6 a.m. that morning was reported in the 2100 block of Southwest Woodland Circle. 

• A woman was reportedly yelling at children between the ages of 4 and 9 in the 500 block of Southwest William Avenue, “cussing and telling them to be quiet,” just after 6:05 p.m. on July 30. 

 

Theft 

• A homeless person reportedly stole two blankets from a residence in the 100 block of South Fifth Street just before 8:45 a.m. on July 28. 

• A vehicle was reported as possibly stolen from the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just before 12:55 p.m. on July 28. 

• A subject was cited for shoplifting from a store in the 1700 block of North National Avenue at 1:10 p.m. on July 28 and was subsequently trespassed from the business. 

• A vehicle was reported as possibly stolen from the 1500 block of Northwest State Avenue at approximately 5:25 p.m. on July 28. 

• A case of third-degree theft was reported in the 10 block of Southwest Chehalis Avenue just after 8:35 a.m. on July 30. 

• A subject was cited for shoplifting from the 1500 block of North National Avenue just before 6:50 p.m. on July 30. 

 

Vehicle accidents 

• A non-injury vehicle collision was reported at the intersection of Northwest State Avenue and West Main Street just after 9:10 a.m. on July 28. 

• A non-injury vehicle collision was reported at the intersection of Northeast Cascade Avenue and North Market Boulevard at 2:25 p.m. on July 28. 

• A vehicle versus bicycle collision was reported in the 700 block of North National Avenue just after 4:40 p.m. on July 28. The 14-year-old male bicyclist sustained minor injuries but was conscious and breathing okay when medical personnel arrived at the scene. 



• One person involved in a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Southwest 13th Street and Southwest Mills Avenue just before 5:45 p.m. on July 28 reported neck pain resulting from the crash. 

Hit-and-run 

• A subject was cited for a hit-and-run at the intersection of North Market Boulevard and Northwest Boistfort Street at 9:45 p.m. on July 28. 

 

Burglary 

• A burglary to the back room of an attorney office in the 300 block of Northwest Park Street was reported at 9:20 a.m. on July 28. 

 

Fraud 

• A case of “non-specific fraud” was reported in the 300 block of Northwest North Street just after 10:35 a.m. on July 28. 

 

Under investigation 

• A crime that falls into the category of “all other crimes” that was reported in the 10 block of Southwest Chehalis Avenue at 11:20 a.m. on July 28 is under investigation. The Chehalis Police Department had not released any additional information about the incident as of Monday morning. 

• A case of harassment reported in the 600 block of West Main Street just before 12:40 p.m. on July 30 is under investigation. 

 

Criminal trespass 

• A homeless woman camping outside a business in the 10 block of Southwest Chehalis Avenue just after 1:40 p.m. on July 28 was moved along. 

• Two subjects in a blue four-door Sedan were trespassed from a property in the 1700 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at 7:40 p.m. on July 29. 

• A subject was trespassed from a property in the 1100 block of South Market Boulevard just before 11:40 p.m. on July 29. 

• A male subject who was reportedly banging on the doors and windows of a residence in the 200 block of Northeast Sky Lane at approximately 2:20 a.m. on July 30 was trespassed from the property. 

• A homeless man who was attempting to sleep in the alleyway in the 1300 block of Northwest State Avenue at 10:25 p.m. on July 30 was trespassed from the property.

• Two subjects who refused to leave a business in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just before 11:20 p.m. on July 30 were trespassed from the property. 

 

Assault 

• A subject was arrested in the 10 block of Northeast Washington Avenue just before 6:15 p.m. on July 28 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for fourth-degree assault, domestic violence after he allegedly punched his wife in the face. 

 

Disorderly conduct 

• A woman was reportedly yelling in the 300 block of Southwest Third Street just after 2:35 a.m. on July 29. The reporting party stated they thought they heard four or five gunshots.

• Just before 2:20 p.m. on July 29, an attempted assault was reported in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue. The reporting party said they had approached a male subject who was “pretending to play music for money” and confronted the male about the music being a recording, at which point the male “got mad” and “started throwing rocks and sticks” at the reporting party. 

• A disorderly female subject was reportedly “dancing on top of her vehicle” and “screaming and flipping everyone off” at the intersection of Southwest Cascade Avenue and Southwest 11th Street just after 11:05 a.m. on July 30. Another caller made a report about the same subject at approximately 11:35 a.m. on July 30, reporting the woman had knocked on his door, told him “a random story” and “was talking in a threatening way but did not make any direct threats.” 

• At 12:50 p.m. on July 30, a caller reported a female subject in the 1200 block of Northwest Cedar Way “was asking for her kids from (the caller).” The caller advised “there are no kids and (he) has nothing to do with her.” 

• A disorderly subject was reportedly slamming their vehicle doors and driving erratically in the 1700 block of North National Avenue just before 5:30 p.m. on July 30. 

 

Suspicious circumstances 

• The keys to a store in the 1300 block of Northwest State Avenue were reportedly left in the door outside just before 2:40 a.m. on July 29. The reporting party stated the lights of the business were on but no one was seen in or outside the building. 

• A male subject was reportedly recording video through the window of a residence in the 300 block of Southwest Third Street just before 6:05 a.m. on July 29. The suspect was reportedly recording the reporting party’s husband while he was laying in bed before the suspect “took off running” southbound on Chehalis Avenue, according to the Chehalis Police Department. 

• A woman inside a vehicle driving through a parking lot in the 1700 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue was reportedly calling for help just before 12:30 a.m. on July 30. 

Just after 9:50 p.m. on July 30, a caller reported a male appeared to be “holding two females hostage” in the 1500 block of North National Avenue. 

 

Malicious mischief 

• A juvenile subject was cited for third-degree malicious mischief in the 1200 block of Southwest Pacific Avenue just after 6:30 p.m. on July 29 after they allegedly scratched a camera lens. 

 

Indecent exposure 

• A nude male was reportedly standing next to a vehicle in the 1900 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at 4:10 p.m. on July 30. 

 

LEWIS COUNTY JAIL STATISTICS

As of Monday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 161 inmates, including 149 in the general population and 12 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 118 were reported male and 31 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 10 were reported male and two were reported female.
