Sirens: Urinating in the Park; Flock Cameras Strike Again; Vehicle vs. Manhole; DUI Arrests; ‘Directed Not to Do That’

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT

Eluding Police

• On July 9, in the 2000 block of Borst Avenue at 2:40 a.m., officers contacted a Centralia man with outstanding warrants for his arrest, but the man fled in his vehicle, police logs stated.

 

Criminal Trespass

• Just before 2:30 p.m. on July 8, officers responded to a report of a homeless man going through a dumpster at a motel in the 900 block of South Scheuber Road. Motel staff wanted the male trespassed from the property.

• A homeless man from Centralia was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail for criminal trespass in the first degree at 8:56 p.m. on July 8 in the 110 block of Harrison Avenue.

• A homeless male was contacted and trespassed from railroad property in the 1600 block of West Reynolds Avenue at 2:49 a.m. on July 9.

• Centralia police responded to a report of a disorderly female at a business in the 1000 block of Belmont Avenue around 4:18 a.m. on July 9. Officers contacted the “adult transient female from Pe Ell and trespassed her from the property,” police logs stated.

• Just before 9 p.m. on July 9, a disorderly male was trespassed from a business in the 1200 block of Belmont Avenue, police logs stated.

 

Malicious Mischief 

• Centralia police received an online report from a business in the 500 block of Harrison Avenue at 9:10 a.m. on July 10 in reference to a back door being damaged.  

 

Suspicious Circumstances

• A caller to Centralia police at 10 a.m. on July 10 reported a “suspected transient” man was checking door handles on parked vehicles in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue.

 

Welfare Check

• Just after noon on July 10, a caller reported there was a person in the 1000 block of Eckerson Road who appeared to be under the influence of drugs. Centralia police performed a welfare check on a “transient female from Spokane Valley,” police logs stated, and determined no crimes had been committed. 

 

Assault

• A Centralia man was arrested for allegedly assaulting someone during a domestic dispute at about 1:50 p.m. in the 700 block of South Rock Street.

• A man from Chehalis was arrested for allegedly assaulting a nurse in the 900 block of South Scheuber Road at 2:28 a.m. on July 11.

 

Indecent Exposure

• At 4:31 p.m. on July 10, a caller reported there was a woman urinating in a park in the 100 block of South Pearl Street. No arrests were made.

 

Theft

• In the 500 block of South Tower Avenue at 7:29 p.m. on July 8, a Centralia woman was arrested and released with a court date for alleged theft in the third degree.

• At 1:34 p.m. on July 9, an officer with the Centralia police was patrolling the Centralia Outlet Mall parking lot, due to a “high number of theft reports received.” The officer saw a male enter a store and suspected he had stolen from the business. He contacted the store owner and the male, who admitted to stealing. Then, the officer spoke with a female the male was “associated with” who also admitted to stealing and who was reportedly in possession of drug paraphernalia. The merchandise was returned to the store, police logs stated, and the two people were arrested.

• A Centralia man was arrested for alleged theft from a business in the 500 block of South Tower Avenue at 4:27 p.m. on July 9.

• Investigation is ongoing after a 4:40 p.m., July 10 call about a large amount of merchandise stolen from a shoe outlet in the 100 block of West High Street. Aberdeen police reportedly located the suspect vehicle and the merchandise, but no arrests have been made.

 

Possession of Stolen Vehicle

• Because of the Flock Safety System cameras, Centralia police found a vehicle stolen out of Portland, Oregon in the parking lot of a business in the 100 block of West High Street at 6:13 p.m. on July 10. A Tacoma man was arrested and booked for allegedly possessing the stolen vehicle and an outstanding warrant.

• Because of the Flock Safety System cameras, Centralia police found a vehicle stolen out of Covington in a parking lot in the 1300 block of Lum Road at 2:23 p.m. on July 11. A Seattle man was arrested and booked for alleged possession of the stolen vehicle. 

 

Hit-and-Run

• An “older, raised, blue truck with white stripes” fled the scene after an accident in the intersection of West Main and Yew streets at 10:58 p.m. on July 10, according to Centralia Police. 

• On July 11 at 4:10 p.m., a caller in the 1800 block of Cooks Hill Road reported that a green Honda with no plates “crossed the center line and struck his mirror” before fleeing the scene.

 

Protection Order Violation

• Officers are investigating a possible protection order violation via text messages after a 12:32 a.m. call on July 12 from the 1100 block of Scammon Creek Road.

 

DUIs

• Brian K. Emmett, 54, of Centralia, was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail for driving under the influence in the 900 block of South Scheuber Road at 6:38 p.m. on July 8.

• Michael D. Sicard, 64 of Centralia, was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail for driving while under the influence in the 800 block of West Main Street at 2:57 p.m. on July 11.

 

Vehicle vs. Manhole

• A non-injury, “vehicle vs. manhole” accident where the vehicle had been damaged was reported at 9:26 a.m. on July 9 in the intersection of Marsh Avenue and Alder Street.



 

Obstruction

• At 10:17 p.m. on July 11 in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue, a 17-year-old was arrested and booked for “interfering with a high risk stop officers were conducting where the suspect was said to be armed,” police logs stated. “The (juvenile) was not involved but kept interjecting … into the situation,” reportedly endangering themselves and officers, despite warnings.

 

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT

Hit-and-Run

• Two vehicles were damaged in a hit-and-run reported in the 2500 block of North National Avenue at 8:24 a.m. on July 11.

• A hit-and-run was reported in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at 5:05 p.m. on July 11.

 

Once Was Lost, Now Is Found

• A caller in the 1400 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at 2:26 p.m. on July 11 said there was a small female child who seemed lost. While on the call, the reporting party “found the parents and since left,” police logs stated.

 

Criminal Trespass 

• On July 11 at 4:28 p.m., an employee at a business in the 1100 block of South Market Boulevard asked that an approximately 40-year-old female in a truck with “a temporary plate on the back that looks fake” be trespassed for taking “a package of pills” the caller was able to recover from her.

• A caller in the 900 block of Northwest St. Helens Avenue reported an adult male and female had “set up camp” next to their girlfriend’s residence at about 5:42 p.m. on July 11.

• A criminal trespass was reported in the 1100 block of South Market Boulevard at 10:19 p.m. on July 11, though the reporting party told Chehalis police the suspect was “purchasing items, not stealing.”

 

Malicious Mischief

• Malicious mischief, with no additional details, was reported in the 200 block of Southwest 13th Street just before 7 p.m. on July 11.

 

Dispute

• A 5:47 p.m., July 11 call from the 2000 block of Airport Road reported an “extremely verbal” dispute between a male and a female, which the reporting party suspected to be about money. The male was reportedly “screaming and growling saying, ‘I gave you gas money’ (and) ‘I am the one who helped you out.’”

 

‘Directed Not to Do That’

• A caller from the 1100 block of South Market Boulevard at 6:37 a.m. on July 12 told Chehalis police there were “two homeless people having sex inside” a black Ford Expedition that was “covered in garbage and tarps.” The caller told police “if you don’t do something about it, I’m going to throw a firework mortar underneath the car,” but the caller was “directed not to do that,” by officers. 

 

Assault

• A person in the intersection of Southwest John Street and Southwest Chehalis Avenue on July 11 at 9:05 p.m. was arrested for alleged assault in the fourth degree. Callers reported there was a man and a woman involved in the situation, though police logs don’t specify who was arrested.

 

Theft

• In the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at 10:16 p.m. on July 11, a woman was arrested for alleged shoplifting and trying to leave a store. 

 

Shooting Complaint

• Just after 10:19 p.m. on July 11, a caller in the 10 block of Northeast Cascade Avenue reported the sound from what he believed to be a pistol before a “the person walked off.”

 

Vehicle Prowl

• Five juveniles were reportedly trying to break into vehicles in the 800 block of South Market Boulevard at 2:19 a.m. on July 12, but had split up by the time Chehalis police attempted to contact them.

 

Suspicious Person

• A caller in the 200 block of Southwest 13th Street at 4:53 p.m. on July 11 reported a man who appeared to be between 30 and 40 years old had been in a park near a slide for 30 minutes despite having no children and the caller had seen him taking photos of young girls. The man left once officers arrived. 

• In the intersection of Southwest John Street and Southwest William Avenue at 7:05 p.m. on July 11, a caller reported a woman in a tan vehicle had been honking her horn, screaming, yelling and “causing a raucous.”

 

Vicious Dogs

• According to a caller in the 100 block of Southwest Ninth Street at 7:52 p.m. on July 11, two dogs reportedly killed a man’s bunny ten hours earlier. The dogs appeared to be huskies and the caller did not know who owned the dogs.

 

LEWIS COUNTY JAIL STATISTICS

As of Wednesday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 177 inmates, including 164 in the general population and 13 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 129 were reported male and 35 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 11 were reported male and two were reported female.
