CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT
Arrests
• Jose H. Padron, 30, Winlock, was arrested for an alleged outstanding Department of Corrections warrant in the 300 block of North Gold Street at about 3:02 p.m. Jan. 21 following a short foot pursuit. Padron was also charged with alleged use of drug paraphernalia.
• James R. Chittum, 47, Puyallup, was arrested in the 100 block of West High Street at about 6:17 p.m. Jan. 21 and booked into the Lewis County Jail for an outstanding Department of Corrections warrant, alleged first-degree criminal impersonation, escape from community custody and alleged possession of a controlled substance. According to police, Chittum provided officers with a false identity during the investigation, which was reportedly initiated when K9 Havik alerted to the odor of narcotics during a traffic stop.
• Shawn M. Ogara, was arrested in the 100 block of North Tower Avenue at about 6:25 p.m. Jan. 21 and booked into the Lewis County Jail for alleged second-degree rape.
• Don K. Gonzales, 37, Chehalis, was arrested in the 400 block of East Summa Street at about 9:51 a.m. Jan. 22 and booked into the Chehalis Tribal Jail for alleged first-degree criminal trespass.
• Trevor K. Durham, 34, Sequim, was arrested in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue at about 4:33 p.m. Jan. 22 and booked into the Chehalis Tribal Jail for alleged second-degree criminal trespass.
• Emily Hernandez, 23, Centralia, was arrested in the 100 block of Jalyn Street at about 12:43 a.m. Jan. 23 and booked into the Lewis County Jail for alleged fourth-degree assault constituting domestic violence.
Accidents
• A two-vehicle collision with no injuries was reported in the 200 block of North Railroad Avenue at about 10:53 a.m. Jan. 22.
Assault
• A juvenile was referred for alleged fourth-degree assault constituting domestic violence in the 500 block of West Center Street at about 7:13 p.m. Jan. 22.
Department assist
• Officers from the Centralia Police Department, Chehalis Police Department and Lewis County Sheriff’s Office assisted Washington State Patrol troopers after an eluding suspect wrecked near Exit 81 on Interstate 5 and fled on foot at about 7:27 p.m. Jan. 21. Officers reportedly contained the area and deployed a police K9. The suspect was not located at the time.
• Officers responded to a report of a fire in the 300 block of Latona Street at about 7:30 a.m. Jan. 22 and assisted Riverside Fire Authority. The cause and circumstances surrounding the fire are under investigation.
Fraud
• A subject reported being the victim of a telephone/internet scam in the 2400 block of Eureka Avenue at about 11:15 a.m. Jan. 22. The suspect reportedly represented himself as an FBI member and demanded $9,000, stating that the victim would have to “go before a grand jury” if the amount was not paid. The victim reportedly paid $4,500.
Possession of a controlled substance
• Robert W. Thorton, 57, and Christopher J. Webb, 39, both of Auburn, were issued criminal citations for alleged unlawful possession of a controlled substance and use of drug paraphernalia in the 100 block of West High Street at about 6:17 p.m. Jan. 21. According to police, investigation began when K9 Havik alerted to the odor of narcotics during a traffic stop.
Theft
• Two unidentified females allegedly stole makeup from a local store in the 1200 block of Harrison Avenue at about 5:31 p.m. Jan. 21. According to the store, the suspects allegedly hid the items in a bag under their dresses.
CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT
Arrests
• Stacie Juhl was arrested in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at about 4:05 p.m. Jan. 19 and booked into the Lewis County Jail for alleged theft and possession of a controlled substance. Juhl had allegedly attempted to steal items from Walmart.
Accidents
• An accident involving a vehicle and a pedestrian occurred in the 2000 block of Northeast Kresky Avenue at about 7:01 p.m. Jan. 19. According to the incident summary report, one person suffered a head injury and was experiencing agonal breathing. Life Flight reportedly advised they were not able to launch due to weather conditions.
• A hit-and-run was reported in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at about 8:17 p.m. Jan. 20. The vehicle allegedly hit a pole in the parking lot of the store. The suspect was reportedly issued an arrest citation for hit-and-run and other infractions.
Criminal trespass
• Ronald B. Alger was trespassed from a local business at the corner of Northwest State Avenue and Northwest West Street at about 3:33 p.m. Jan. 18 after he allegedly took items from a donation drop-off bin before ultimately returning those items.
Scam
• A man advised of a possible mail scam in the 300 block of Northwest Georgia Avenue at about 11:51 a.m. Jan. 18. According to the report, the man said he had received a check for $3,450 along with a list of instructions for what to do with the money in order to get gift cards.
• A reporting party advised of an online scam in the 800 block of Northwest Ohio Avenue at about 8:58 a.m. Jan. 19. According to the police’s incident summary report, the party said they sent approximately $25,000 in gift cards and “some online” to an attorney for Jennifer Aniston who had left California for Florida and got arrested.
Suspicious circumstances
• An unknown male reportedly tried to pull a fence down using a rope in the 600 block of Northwest Pennsylvania Avenue at about 6:35 p.m. Jan. 18.
JAIL STATISTICS
• As of Jan. 23, the Lewis County Jail had a total facility population of 176 inmates, including 164 in the general population and 12 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of the general population inmates, 129 were reported male and 35 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 10 were reported male and two were reported female.
• As of Jan. 22, the Chehalis Tribal Jail had a total jail population of 14 inmates. Of those, four were from Centralia, one was from Elma and three were from the Department of Corrections. Additionally, there were two from the Skokomish Tribe and one each from the Quileute Nation, the Suquamish Tribe, the Tulalip Tribe and the Chehalis Tribe.
