Sirens: Suspects Use Stroller to Steal; Arrest After Gun Held to Person; Assault; DUI Arrest; Crashes

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT

Malicious Mischief

• Just after 8:35 a.m. on Nov. 11, a caller reported their vehicle’s tires were slashed in the 10 block of North Market Boulevard sometime overnight.

• One to two subjects who were reportedly “screaming” and possibly breaking things inside a residence in the 600 block of Southeast Dobson Court were arrested just after 5:15 a.m. on Nov. 12 and were booked into the Lewis County Jail for third-degree malicious mischief.

• A subject who reportedly held an unloaded gun up to another person and was “destroying” the inside of a house in the 2200 block of Jackson Highway was arrested at approximately 8:50 p.m. on Nov. 12 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for third-degree malicious mischief.

 

Theft

• Just after 9:40 a.m. on Nov. 11, a bike was reported stolen from the 1400 block of Northwest Airport Road sometime earlier that morning.

• A third-degree theft was reported in the 1700 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at 4:30 p.m. on Nov. 11.

• A third-degree theft reported in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just before 10:25 p.m. on Nov. 11 is under investigation.

• Fishing equipment was reported stolen out of a boat in the 1800 block of Southwest Snively Avenue at approximately 11:55 a.m. on Nov. 12.

 

Vehicle Accident

• A non-injury, two-vehicle accident was reported in the 1700 block of North National Avenue at 2:35 p.m. on Nov. 11.

 

Suspicious Activity

• At 11:05 p.m. on Nov. 11, a caller who was watching a Railfan camera reported seeing a man sitting on the train tracks at the intersection of Northwest West Street and North National Avenue. The man reportedly got up and left the train tracks toward the south end of the train depot.

• A woman was reportedly “throwing flyers on the ground” and “lighting papers on fire” in the 500 block of North Market Boulevard just before 11:05 p.m. on Nov. 12. No arrests were made.

• A man reportedly urinated on the sidewalk and was “acting erratically” in the 10 block of Northeast Cascade Avenue just after 4:20 p.m. on Nov. 13. No arrests were made.

• A subject reportedly tried to break into a building in the 1500 block of North National Avenue at 9:10 p.m. on Nov 13. No arrests were made.

 

Disputes

• A verbal dispute over a possible traffic issue was reported in the 1500 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just before 4:55 p.m. on Nov. 13.

• A disturbance/dispute reported in the 200 block of Northeast Terrace Road just after 5:40 p.m. on Nov. 13 is under investigation.

 

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT

Vehicle Prowl

• Money was reported stolen from inside a vehicle in the 1000 block of E Street at approximately 9:55 a.m. on Nov. 11.

• At 9:30 a.m. on Nov. 13, a Bluetooth speaker was reported stolen out of a vehicle in the 500 block of North Iron Street by two unidentified suspects sometime overnight.

 



Retail Theft

• An unidentified adult male reportedly walked into a business in the 1300 block of Lum Road just before 2:55 p.m. on Nov. 12, stole several wallets and purses and then fled on foot. Officers were unable to locate the suspect in the area.

• A Fife woman was arrested in the 1400 block of Lum Road just after 4 p.m. on Nov. 12 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for organized retail theft after she and two other suspects, a Lakewood woman and a Puyallup woman, allegedly stole from three Centralia Outlet stores using a baby stroller to conceal stolen items. A toddler was in the stroller at the time, according to the Centralia Police Department. The Lakewood woman and the Puyallup woman were referred to the prosecutor’s office for possible organized retail theft charges.

 

Assault

• A Centralia woman was arrested in the 900 block of North Washington Avenue just after 11:50 a.m. on Nov. 11 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for fourth-degree assault, domestic violence.

 

DUI

• Jorge I. Martinez-Hinojosa, 31, of Centralia, was arrested in the 300 block of West Main Street just after 2:30 a.m. on Nov. 12 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for allegedly driving under the influence.

 

Vehicle Accidents

• A four-vehicle, minor-injury collision was reported in the 200 block of Harrison Avenue at approximately 12:45 p.m. on Nov. 12. One vehicle reportedly could not stop in time to avoid colliding with the back of another vehicle, causing a chain reaction of stopped vehicles being struck, according to the Centralia Police Department. Two people went to the hospital to be treated for minor injuries. Two infractions, driving without insurance and following too close, were issued.

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported in the 500 block of West First Street just after 8:40 p.m. on Nov. 13.

 

Hit-and-Run

• A three-vehicle hit-and-run collision was reported at the intersection of East Summa and South Gold streets just before 1:55 p.m. on Nov. 12. The suspect vehicle reportedly failed to yield to traffic and was struck by another vehicle, causing the suspect vehicle to lose control and hit the driver’s door of a stopped vehicle, according to the Centralia Police Department. The at-fault driver reportedly fled on foot. Officers were unable to locate the suspect in the area. The suspect’s vehicle was impounded.

  A hit-and-run reported in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue at 6:45 p.m. on Nov. 13 is under investigation. A white 2017 GMC Sierra reportedly left a bar, struck another vehicle and fled without stopping, according to the Centralia Police Department. The victim got the vehicle’s license plate, which is registered out of Chehalis.

 

Malicious Mischief

• A Winlock man was cited for third-degree malicious mischief at 6:35 p.m. on Nov. 12 after he allegedly damaged a door in the 2800 block of Mt. Vista Road during a dispute.

 

Trespassed From Property

• A man was trespassed from two retail stores in the 400 block of East Summa Street just after 8 p.m. on Nov. 12 “after stealing from one and overstaying his welcome in another,” according to the Centralia Police Department.

  A Chehalis man was cited for trespassing in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue at approximately 11:45 p.m. on Nov. 13.

 

LEWIS COUNTY JAIL STATISTICS

As of Monday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 167 inmates, including 153 in the general population and 14 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 115 were reported male and 38 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 12 were reported male and two were reported female.
