Sirens: Student accused of assault, trying to break into classroom; homeless man threatens to shoot; animal cruelty alleged

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT

Harassment

• Officers are investigating “potential threats of harm to another person” reported in the 200 block of Reynolds Avenue just before 2:05 p.m. on Feb. 5.

 

DUI

• A 57-year-old Centralia woman was arrested for DUI in the 100 block of East Locust Street just after 1:55 a.m. on Feb. 6.

• A 35-year-old Chehalis man was arrested for DUI in the 800 block of South Gold Street just after 2:20 a.m. on Feb. 7.

 

Vehicle accidents

• Injuries were reported following a two-vehicle collision in the 800 block of South Gold Street just after 7 a.m. on Feb. 6.

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported in the 500 block of Harrison Avenue at approximately 7:40 a.m. on Feb. 6.

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported at the intersection of North Pearl and West First streets just after 9:40 a.m. on Feb. 6.

• Injuries were reported following a two-vehicle collision in the 300 block of Noel Avenue just after 2 p.m. on Feb. 6.

 

Criminal trespass

• A Centralia woman accused of previously stealing from a business in the 300 block of Reynolds Avenue was trespassed from the business at approximately 3:30 p.m. on Feb. 6.

 

Drug violation

• A 40-year-old Montesano man was cited for possession of a controlled substance in the 1200 block of Lum Road at approximately 3:45 p.m. on Feb. 6.

Malicious mischief

• A 56-year-old Chehalis man was arrested for third-degree malicious mischief, domestic violence, and obstructing a police officer in the 700 block of South Silver street at 5:50 p.m. on Feb. 6.

 

Assault

• An 18-year-old Centralia resident was arrested for two counts of fourth-degree assault, domestic violence, in the 400 block of North Ash Street just after 5:55 p.m. on Feb. 6.

 

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT

Vehicle accident

• A tow truck rear-ended a vehicle at the intersection of Northwest State Avenue and West Main street at 7:50 a.m. on Feb. 5. No injuries were reported.

 

Assault

• A male student at a school in the 100 block of Northeast Hampe Way reportedly assaulted another student and tried to break into a classroom with a chair at approximately 10:10 a.m. on Feb. 5.

• A 14-year-old boy reportedly assaulted his grandmother in the 400 block of Southwest 11th Street just before 4:35 p.m. on Feb. 5.



 

Criminal trespass

• A man who was hitting the exterior wall of a business in the 300 block of Northwest North Street with a hammer at approximately 10:20 a.m. on Feb. 2 was trespassed from the business.

• A homeless man who was acting “very violently” and threatening to shoot a customer at a business in the 600 block of Northwest Arkansas Way just after 12:05 p.m. on Feb. 5 was trespassed from the business.

• A customer who was in the bathroom of a business in the 100 block of Southwest Interstate Avenue for over 20 minutes was trespassed from the business at approximately 8:45 p.m. on Feb. 5.

• A criminal trespass reported in the 500 block of South Market Boulevard at approximately 1:55 p.m. on Feb. 6 is under investigation.

• A man who has reportedly been going through a business’ garbage in the 1300 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue was trespassed from the business at approximately 7:05 p.m. on Feb. 6.

 

Juvenile problem

• A juvenile problem reported in the 1000 block of Southwest 20th Street at 1 p.m. on Feb. 5 is under investigation.

• A juvenile female was reportedly drinking alcohol and threatening to stab someone at a residence in the 300 block of Southwest Third Street at 3:35 p.m. on Feb. 6.

 

Dispute

• A dispute involving a woman “screaming for someone to get off (her)” was reported in the 2100 block of Southwest Olympic Drive just after 10 p.m. on Feb. 5.

 

Animal cruelty/neglect

• At 1:30 p.m. on Feb. 6, a citizen reported that a customer at a business in the 500 block of South Market Boulevard was throwing a carrier around with a small dog inside around 11 a.m. that morning.

 

Suspicious circumstances

• A man was possibly carrying a machete in the 1200 block of Southwest McFadden Avenue at 4:10 p.m. on Feb. 6.

Malicious mischief

• Someone reportedly broke side mirrors off of a vehicle in the 400 block of Southwest Cascade Avenue at approximately 6:55 p.m. on Feb. 6.

 

FIRE AND EMS CALLS

• Between Wednesday morning and Friday morning, Lewis County 911 Communications logged approximately 60 illness-related calls, 14 injury-related calls, five fire-related calls, five non-emergency service calls, four vehicle accidents, two Lifeline medical alerts, one pregnancy-related call and five other calls.

 

JAIL STATISTICS

• As of Friday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 138 inmates, including 125 in the general population and 13 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 97 were reported male and 28 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 11 were reported male and two were reported female.

• As of Friday morning, the Chehalis Tribal Jail had a total system population of 22 inmates, including six booked by the Centralia Police Department, 13 booked by the state Department of Corrections, one booked by the Tulalip Tribe and two booked by the Lummi Nation.
