Sentencings
• Marty Lee Smetzler, 66, Onalaska, was sentenced Aug. 19 to 40.5 months in prison and 19.5 months of community custody after pleading guilty to one count each of communication with a minor for immoral purposes and attempted commercial sexual abuse of a minor. • Malachi T. Swaydis, 20, Tumwater, was sentenced Aug. 19 to 70 months in prison and 18 months of community custody after pleading guilty to two counts of second-degree unlawful firearm possession and one count each of first-degree robbery with a deadly weapon enhancement and second-degree burglary. CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT
Arrests
• Megan N. Humphrey, 39, Chehalis, and Isaiah C. Marlow, 44, Port Hadlock, were arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail for alleged unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver in the 1000 block of South Yew Street at about 2:27 p.m. Aug. 23. According to police, officers responded to a report of a drug deal in a local parking lot and identified Humphrey and Marlow as suspects. Officers obtained a search warrant for their vehicle and reportedly located a large quantity of suspected methamphetamine, packaging material, a scale and cash.
Accidents
• A two-vehicle collision with no injuries was reported in the 1600 block of South Gold Street at about 1:54 p.m. Aug. 22.
• A two-vehicle collision was reported at the corner of Belmont Avenue and Harrison Avenue at about 5:14 p.m. Aug. 22. Following the incident, Alyzae T. Jorden, 23, Centralia, was cited for allegedly driving with a suspended driver’s license and failing to have a required ignition interlock device.
Assault
• James White, 43, Chehalis, was issued a criminal citation for fourth-degree assault with sexual motivation in the 900 block of South Scheuber Road at about 1:08 p.m. Aug. 21 after he allegedly grabbed the buttocks of a medical provider multiple times while receiving medical care.
• Officers responded to a physical altercation at a bar in the 100 block of South Tower Avenue at about 8:20 p.m. Aug. 22. Police said the suspect fled prior to their arrival. The case is under investigation.
Criminal trespass
• A juvenile was contacted after stealing a superhero figurine from a local store in the 1000 block of South Yew Street at about 10:44 p.m. Aug. 22. The business reportedly requested the juvenile be trespassed but did not want to pursue criminal charges.
• Elise C. Wray, 40, Centralia, was arrested near the corner of Russell Road and Harrison Avenue at about 12:43 a.m. Aug. 24 after allegedly going onto private property and refusing to leave when asked.
Fraud
• Officers received a report of a credit card chargeback transaction in the 1600 block of South Gold Street at about 12:31 p.m. Aug. 21. The case is under investigation.
Hit-and-run
• A hit-and-run collision was reported in the 500 block of Harrison Avenue at about 4:52 p.m. Aug. 22.
Theft
• Shea Buckner, 35, Toledo, was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail for third-degree theft after allegedly shoplifting from a local business in the 1000 block of South Yew Street at about 1:54 p.m. Aug. 21.
• An attempted theft was reported at a local store in the 1400 block of Harrison Avenue at about 12:43 p.m. Aug. 22. Police said an employee retrieved the items before the suspect left in a vehicle.
• Keys to a vehicle were reported stolen in the 2000 block of Borst Avenue at about 4:47 p.m. Aug. 22. The case is under investigation.
CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT

JAIL STATISTICS
• As of Aug. 24, the Lewis County Jail had a total facility population of 156 inmates, including 144 in the general population and 12 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of the general population inmates, 113 were reported male and 31 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 10 were reported male and two were reported female.
• As of Aug. 24, the Chehalis Tribal Jail had a total jail population of 13 inmates. Of those, four were from Centralia and four were from the Department of Corrections. Additionally, there were one each from the Lummi Nation, the Quileute Nation, the Shoalwater Bay Tribe, the Skokomish Tribe and the Bureau of Indian Affairs.
