Sirens: Sexual harassment and extortion reported; 'Large quantity of pills' were actually foam pellets; Men found in crawl space of a local business

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT

Criminal trespass

• A 34-year-old Centralia man was arrested for trespassing in the 200 block of Centralia College Boulevard just after 7:30 a.m. on March 6.

• A Centralia woman was trespassed from a business in the 1000 block of Eckerson Road “for loitering” just after 3:40 p.m. on March 6.

• A male was reportedly sitting in the entryway to a business in the 1200 block of Mellen Street just after 12:20 a.m. on March 7. The man was trespassed from the property at the business’s request and was provided a courtesy transport to the cold weather shelter.

• A 27-year-old woman from Bronx, New York was cited for camping in city limits in the 100 block of East Magnolia Street just after 5 a.m. on March 7. She was reportedly warned for camping several days prior. “She was offered services on both occasions and refused help,” according to the Centralia Police Department.

• Just after 9:45 a.m. on March 7,  69-year-old Centralia man and a 43-year-old Toledo man were “located in the crawl space of a local business” in the 400 block of South Tower Avenue “where they were attempting to camp.” The business owner asked that they be trespassed from the property.

• A subject was moved along from a business in the 100 block of West Pine Street just after 4:05 p.m. on March 7.

 

Vehicle accident

• Injuries were reported following a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Harrison Avenue and West Main Street just before 3:30 p.m. on March 6. The Centralia Police Department did not disclose information about who was injured or the extent of their injuries.

 

Malicious mischief

• Just before 8:50 p.m. on March 6, an officer responded to a residence in the 100 block of Halliday Road for a report of “an intoxicated disorderly male who damaged property belonging to another family member. The male, 33, of Centralia, was arrested and booked into the Chehalis Tribal Jail for third-degree malicious mischief, domestic violence.

 

Public assist

• Officers responded to a report of a disorderly woman inside a restaurant in the 100 block of North Tower Avenue just before 11:15 p.m. on March 6. “Officers arrived on scene, contacted the female, and provided her courtesy transport to her residence,” according to the Centralia Police Department.

 

Drug violation

• A 41-year-old Puyallup man was cited for knowing possession of a controlled substance in the 300 block of North Pearl Street at approximately 4 a.m. on March 7.

 

Harassment

  “Sexual harassment and extortion” reported in the 4000 block of Galvin Road just before 11:20 a.m. on March 7 are under investigation.

 

Suspicious circumstances

• Officers received reports of a “white substance believed to be a large quantity of pills dumped on the ground” in the 500 block of Harrison Avenue just before 3:40 p.m. on March 7. Officers determined the “pills” were “styrofoam pellets that looked like pills,” according to the Centralia Police Department, which stated “The city is going to clean it up.”

• Three male subjects were “possibly doing drugs in the alley” in the 200 block of North Tower Avenue just before 4:05 p.m. on March 7. Officers located one male subject in the area and determined there was “no apparent drug use.” 

 

Counterfeiting

• At 6:25 p.m. on March 7, a business in the 400 block of East Summa Street reported a customer presented an employee with a counterfeit $100 bill, but “paid for items with real money after being confronted by the employee after the counterfeit (bill).” The customer left the area before officers arrived.

 

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT

Juvenile problem

• A juvenile problem reported in the 100 block of Northeast Hampe Way just after 8:45 a.m. on March 6 is under investigation.

 

Assault



• Just after 10:30 a.m. on March 6, a caller reported her daughter was assaulted at Chehalis Middle School that day and was assaulted in the 1000 block of Southwest 20th Street while walking home from school the day prior.

 

Vehicle accidents

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported in the 1700 block of North National Avenue at 3:05 p.m. on March 6.

• A non-injury, single-vehicle collision was reported at the intersection of Northeast Division Street and Northeast Washington Avenue just after 10:50 a.m. on March 7.

 

Criminal trespass

• Between eight and 10 subjects were trespassed from a parking lot in the 10 block of Southwest Chehalis Avenue at 4:20 p.. On March 6.

 

Dispute

• A verbal dispute was reported in the 500 block of West Main Street at 5 p.m. on March 6.

• A possible dispute was reported in the 600 block of Northwest Folsom Street just before 10:50 p.m. on March 6.

• A “neighborhood dispute” was reported in the 500 block of Northeast Adams Avenue at approximately 7:50 p.m. on March 7.

 

Theft

• A woman was arrested in the 1500 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at 6:10 p.m. on March 6 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for third-degree theft after she allegedly shoplifted approximately eight bottles of nail polish.

• At approximately 4 p.m. on March 7, a caller in the 1400 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue reported a homeless man stole her iPhone 13 and fled the area. The caller advised “she had set the phone down while she was looking at (a) flower.”

• A woman reportedly shoplifted from a business in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just before 7:05 p.m. on March 7. The business retrieved the merchandise. The suspect fled the scene before officers arrived.

 

Disorderly conduct

• A disorderly subject was reportedly “swinging a baseball bat around” at the intersection of West Main Street and Northwest State Avenue just before 9:15 a.m. on March 7.

 

Contraband

• Green Hill School staff reported finding a cellphone and possible paraphernalia just after 12:25 p.m. on March 7.

 

Harassment

• At approximately 10:20 a.m. on March 7, a business in the 100 block of Southwest Interstate Avenue reported receiving four calls within the last five minutes from a subject who was “calling the cashiers names and telling them to go shoot themselves.” Employees reported they didn’t know who the caller was, but suspected they “may be a ‘regular.’”

 

FIRE AND EMS CALLS

• Between Wednesday morning and Friday morning, Lewis County 911 Communications dispatched personnel to approximately 55 illness-related calls, 12 injury-related calls, four Lifeline medical alerts, one overdose, 18 fire-related calls, two vehicle accidents, 18 non-emergency service calls, three medical helicopter requests and five other calls.

 

JAIL STATISTICS

• As of Friday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 165 inmates, including 153 in the general population and 12 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 121 were reported male and 32 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 10 were reported male and two were reported female.

• As of Friday morning, the Chehalis Tribal Jail had a total system population of 20 inmates, including eight booked by the Centralia Police Department, nine booked by the state Department of Corrections, one booked by the Lummi Nation, one booked by Chehalis Tribal Law Enforcement and one booked by Chehalis Tribal Court.
