Sirens: Robbery reported; disorderly male with a hula hoop; drug violations

Suspicious circumstances

• Just before 11:15 a.m. on Jan. 12, a caller reported a case of “erratic driving” in the 1900 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue. The reporting party said the driver pulled into a parking lot “and started threatening (the reporting party’s) life.”

• A possible DUI was reported in the 2500 block of North National Avenue just after 3:40 p.m. on Jan. 12. The reporting party said they saw the driver drink from a glass bottle before driving off.

• Three juvenile males reportedly kicked signs and hit cars in the 500 block of North Market Boulevard just after 7:05 p.m. on Jan. 14. No damage was reported.

• At 10:25 p.m. on Jan. 14, a caller reported a group of five teens were outside “putting fingers on windows” and possibly smoking or vaping outside a store in the 1500 block of North National Avenue. The caller reported she had just closed the store and wanted to go home but was afraid to approach the juveniles. The teens left before officers arrived.

 

Vehicle accidents

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported at the intersection of Northwest Cascade Avenue and West Main Street just after 2:05 p.m. on Jan. 12.

• Minor injuries were reported after an airbag deployed during a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Northwest State Avenue and West Main Street just after 2:25 p.m. on Jan. 12.

 

Criminal trespass

• A male subject reportedly pulled his pants down in the lobby of a business in the 200 block of Northwest Cascade Avenue just after 4:35 p.m. on Jan. 12. The business asked officers to trespass him from the property.

• A criminal trespass reported in the 700 block of Northwest Maryland Avenue at approximately 12:40 p.m. on Jan. 13 is under investigation.

• A male subject who “had a hula hoop and was swinging it around” inside a store in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 8:40 p.m. on Jan. 13 was trespassed from the business.

• A subject reportedly trespassed on a property in the 500 block of Southwest William Avenue at 3 p.m. on Jan. 14.

• A subject reportedly trespassed at a business in the 1100 block of South Market Boulevard at 5:10 p.m. on Jan. 14.

• A man who was reportedly “messing with lights” at a property in the 600 block of Northwest Arkansas Way just before 6:05 p.m. on Jan. 14 was trespassed from the property.

• A homeless man was reportedly setting up camp on a property in the 400 block of South Market Boulevard at 8 p.m. on Jan. 15.

 

Disorderly conduct

  A disorderly man reportedly refused to leave a residence in the 2100 block of Southwest Olympic Drive at approximately 5 p.m. on Jan. 12.

• A disorderly woman was reportedly “pacing the area, screaming and yelling” in the 500 block of North Market Boulevard at approximately 5:50 p.m. on Jan. 14.

• A male subject was reportedly “talking to the energy drinks” inside a store in the 1300 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just before 5:55 a.m. on Jan. 15.

• A man was reportedly “dancing around” outside the front door of a store in the 1400 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at approximately 12:40 a.m. on Jan. 16.

• An intoxicated male was reportedly “punching the garbage cans and rearranging outside furniture” in the 1500 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just before 4:40 a.m. on Jan. 16.

 

Theft

• A first-degree theft reported in the 1700 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at approximately 8:15 a.m. on Jan. 13 is under investigation.

• A male subject “wearing all black” who “ran out” of a business in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue “with stuff under his jacket” at 3:45 p.m. on Jan. 13 was cited for third-degree theft.

• A vehicle was reported stolen from the 100 block of North Market Boulevard just after 2:25 p.m. on Jan. 15.

• Just before 6:35 p.m. on Jan. 15, approximately $100 worth of items was reported stolen from a store in the 1300 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at approximately 5 p.m. that day.

• A woman was cited for shoplifting in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just before 8:05 p.m. on Jan. 15.

 

Animal negligence/abuse

• Just after 12:25 p.m. on Jan. 13, a caller reported a homeless man and his dog were at the corner of Northwest Chamber of Commerce Way and Northwest Louisiana Avenue. The caller said they were “concerned for (the) dog’s wellbeing” with the low temperatures outside, advising the “dog looks very cold,” and there was no visible food or water.

 

Harassment

• A case of harassment reported in the 1200 block of Southwest Pacific Avenue just after 8 a.m. on Jan. 14 is under investigation.

 

Drug violations

• A subject was cited for a drug violation in the 300 block of Southwest 11th Street just before 9:25 p.m. on Jan. 14.

• A subject was cited for a drug violation after they were treated for an overdose in the 300 block of Southwest 11th Street just before 2:55 a.m. on Jan. 15.

 

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT

Theft

• Damage to a power meter was reported in the 200 block of East Van Buren Street at approximately 9:15 a.m. on Jan. 15. “The case continues to be investigated to determine if power was unlawfully obtained through the damaged meter,” according to the Centralia Police Department.

• A shoplift was reported in the 600 block of North Tower Avenue just before 5:40 p.m. on Jan. 16. The suspect, 19, of Silver Creek, was arrested and booked into the Chehalis Tribal Jail for third-degree theft and obstructing a public servant.

 

Dispute

• A dispute over a bicycle was reported in the 100 block of North Gold Street just before 10:45 a.m. on Jan. 15. Officers determined the bicycle was previously stolen and given to another person. None of the involved parties wanted to pursue criminal charges.

 

Scam

• A scam call where the scammer called the reporting party claiming they had won $800,000 was reported in the 1000 block of Scammon Creek Road just after 11:30 a.m. on Jan. 15. The reporting party hung up on the scammer.

 

Criminal trespass

• A homeless man who was going through a business’s dumpsters in the 300 block of Reynolds Avenue was trespassed from the business just after 5 p.m. on Jan. 15.

•A 28-year-old homeless man was cited for trespassing at a business in the 600 block of South Pearl Street just before 10:25 p.m. on Jan. 15.

• A homeless man from Chehalis was trespassed from a business in the 300 block of North Gold Street at approximately 12:50 p.m. on Jan. 16 for causing a disturbance.

 

Robbery

• A woman reportedly tried to shoplift items from a business in the 1000 block of South Gold Street just before 6:20 p.m. on Jan. 15. When confronted by a store employee, the suspect allegedly “assaulted the employee in an attempt to retain the property.” The case is under investigation.

 

Disorderly conduct

• A disorderly man was reportedly at a business in the 1200 block of Mellen Street just after 10:40 p.m. on Jan. 15. When asked to leave, the man said he was cold. Officers gave him a courtesy transport to a local shelter.

 

Malicious mischief

• Video surveillance recorded two juveniles spray painting a building in the 100 block of West Magnolia Street at 9:15 a.m. on Jan. 16. Charges have been referred to the juvenile prosecutor.   

 

Hit-and-run

• A hit-and-run was reported in the 200 block of South Tower Avenue just after 1:45 p.m. on Jan. 16.

Rape

• A sexual assault that occurred in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue in 2023 was reported just before 2:40 p.m. on Jan. 16. The case is under investigation.

 

Drug violation

• An officer contacted a 41-year-old Centralia man in the 100 block of North Pearl Street for two outstanding Centralia Municipal Court warrants at approximately 11:30 p.m. on Jan. 16. During a search, fentanyl, suspected methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia were located on his person. He was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail on his outstanding warrants and for resisting arrest and knowingly possessing a controlled substance.

 

LEWIS COUNTY JAIL STATISTICS

As of Wednesday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 146 inmates, including 133 in the general population and 13 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 110 were reported male and 23 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 11 were reported male and two were reported female.
