Centralia Police Department
Theft
• A local business in the 1000 block of South Yew Street reported the theft of grocery items at around 5:50 p.m., June 22. The suspects have not been identified.
• Jodi L. Hames, 51, of Centralia, was arrested and booked into the Chehalis Tribal Jail at about 9:50 p.m. on June 22 for third-degree theft after allegedly shoplifting from a local store in the 1000 block of South Yew Street.
Reckless driving
• Ziarahman Safai, 20, of Camas, was arrested at around 10:10 p.m. June 22 and issued a criminal citation for reckless driving in the 1400 block of Harrison Avenue.
Chehalis Police Department
Suspicious person
• A resident called and reported a man carrying a bag northbound in the 2000 block of North National Avenue at around 9:50 a.m. June 17. No weapons were seen.
• A man was reportedly attempting to burglarize a building at around 10:36 a.m. June 17 in the 300 block of Southwest Third Street. No entry into the residence was made.
Vehicle collision
• A two-vehicle collision occurred at about 2:17 p.m. on June 17 at the corner of Northwest Arkansas Way and Northwest Louisiana Avenue. No one was injured, although one driver was reported to be “acting strange and seemed in a hurry.”
Possible DUI
• A resident called about a possible DUI at 4:57 p.m. on June 17 at the corner of Northeast Coal Creek Road and North National Avenue. The police spoke with the driver, who showed no signs of intoxication.
Hit-and-run
• A hit-and-run was reported at 5:22 p.m. on June 17, in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue. No arrests were made.
Lewis County Superior Court
• A Randle man was charged with one count of possession of a stolen vehicle and one count of second-degree malicious mischief on Friday, June 20, in Lewis County Superior Court. Jeremy Ashe was reported and eventually arrested for allegedly stealing and vandalizing the dirt bike of a Randle resident after being chased down by his brother. He abandoned the bike in a field near the house of its original owner.
• Ross Plumb, 32, was charged Friday, June 20, with one charge of identity theft in the first degree and one count of forgery. Plumb was arrested at the Gesa Credit Union in Chehalis after attempting to cash a forged check for $3,474.16. Plumb reportedly had already attempted and failed to cash the same check at a bank in Centralia. During his first appearance in Lewis County Superior Court, he claimed that he had been picked up off of the street and forced to attempt to cash the fraudulent check.
• Lorenzo Mauga, 26, was charged Friday, June 20, with one count of third-degree assault, domestic violence. Mauga was reported in December 2024 for allegedly hitting an intimate partner with a belt. Mauga, who was in the custody of the Lewis County Sheriff's Office, was originally summoned for the hearing but was booked into the Lewis County Jail for failing to appear for his original court date.
JAIL STATISTICS
• As of Monday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 181 inmates, including 168 in the general population and 13 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 138 were reported male and 30 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 11 were reported male and two were reported female.
