Possible Child Abuse

• A report of possible child abuse made in the 700 block of Harrison Avenue at 3:30 p.m. on Nov. 22 is under investigation.

 

Assault

• A 15 year old was arrested in the 2800 block of Russell Road just after 1:25 a.m. on Nov. 24 and was booked into the Lewis County Juvenile Center for alleged fourth-degree assault, domestic violence.

• A subject was arrested in the 1100 block of Scammon Creek Road just after 6:30 p.m. on Nov. 25 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for fourth-degree assault after allegedly striking their significant other with a broom during an argument.

 

Headstones Knocked Over

• At approximately 7:55 a.m. on Nov. 24, there was a report of “unknown vandals” who knocked over several headstones in the 1100 block of Caveness Drive.

 

Hit-and-Run

• At approximately 9:15 a.m. on Nov. 24, there was a report of a vehicle that struck four parked cars at the intersection of North Tower Avenue and West Sixth Street. The driver allegedly fell asleep.

• A subject was cited for a hit-and-run in the 900 block of Harrison Avenue just after 11:15 a.m. on Nov. 24.

 

Theft

• A pistol was reported stolen from a vehicle in the 900 block of H Street just after 9:45 a.m. on Nov. 24.

• An X-Box One gaming console was reported stolen from a library in the 100 block of South Silver Street just after 9:45 a.m. on Nov. 24.

• At 10:40 a.m. on Nov. 24, there was a report of a subject purchasing over $600 in clothing with a stolen credit card in the 1400 block of Lum Road.

• A $3,000 vacuum cleaner was reported stolen from the 1100 block of Long Road at 3 p.m. on Nov. 24.

• Just before 5 p.m. on Nov. 24, a victim reported the theft of their dog, a black and white French bulldog, in the 1900 block of Johnson Road. The suspect was reportedly driving a green coupe.

 

DUI

• Valwinder S. Chahal, 61, of Centralia, was arrested in the 500 block of South Tower Avenue just after 4:05 p.m. on Nov. 24 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for an alleged felony DUI and for an outstanding warrant.

• Richard T. Strauss, 29, of Chehalis, was arrested in the 100 block of North Railroad Avenue at 11:35 p.m. on Nov. 24 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for allegedly driving under the influence after he was stopped for a traffic violation and drove over the sidewalk into a parking lot.

 

Malicious Mischief

• Adelina G. Lopez, 27, of Centralia, was arrested in the 4000 block of Mayberry Road just after 12:20 p.m. on Nov. 25 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for first-degree malicious mischief after she allegedly intentionally rammed another person’s unoccupied car with her SUV and pushed it down a slight embankment onto private property, causing significant damage to the car.



 

Crashes

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported at the intersection of South Tower Avenue and West Cherry Street just after 4:50 p.m. on Nov. 24.

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported in the 900 block of Harrison Avenue just after 5:10 p.m. on Nov. 24.

 

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT

Theft and Burglary

• A second-degree burglary reported in the 1000 block of Southwest Interstate Avenue at 8:55 a.m. on Nov. 22 is under investigation.

• At 9:25 a.m. on Nov. 23, there was a report of a subject breaking into a railroad baggage car in the 1100 block of Southwest Sylvenus Street sometime after 5 p.m. the night before. The caller didn’t know what had been taken.

• A third-degree theft reported in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at 7 p.m. on Nov. 23 is under investigation.

 

Assault

• A subject was arrested in the 300 block of Southeast Park Hill Drive just after 10 a.m. on Nov. 23 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for alleged fourth-degree assault.

• At 2:15 p.m. on Nov. 23, Green Hill School reported a custodial assault that occurred on Oct. 14.

 

Crash

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported in a parking lot at the intersection of Northwest Louisiana Avenue and Northwest Chamber of Commerce Way at 1:10 p.m. on Nov. 23.

• A non-injury, multi-vehicle collision was reported at the intersection of West Main Street and Northwest Cascade Avenue at approximately 4:40 p.m. on Nov. 23.

 

Child Calling for Help   

• Just after 5:05 p.m. on Nov. 23, there was a report of a 10- to 12-year-old child running down the street in the 600 block of Southeast Dobson Court yelling “help me” while the child’s parent was “screaming” at them. No arrests were made.

 

LEWIS COUNTY JAIL STATISTICS

 

As of Wednesday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 130 inmates, including 115  in the general population and 15 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center. Of general population inmates, 98 were reported male and 17 were reported female. All WERC inmates were reported male.
