Sirens: Phone stolen, thief arrested; juvenile jailed for stolen property; Social Security scam reported; man assaulted by unknown assailant

Arrests

• Jeremiah Landis, 46, of Lakewood, was arrested for second-degree theft and second-degree vehicle prowl after a female from Oregon waved down officers who were on another call at around 12:01 p.m. July 27 and informed that her cellphone was just stolen from her vehicle by an unknown perpetrator. The female was able to track her cellphone on a friend’s phone and provided updates to officers as the suspect moved around town. Officers located Landis and arrested him.

• Tom A. Reeves, 54, of Centralia, was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail on the charge of first-degree burglary for allegedly entering a business in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue from which he had been trespassed, committing a theft and being assaultive toward staff as he attempted to leave at about 1:44 p.m. July 27.

• Joseph C. Mede Schockey, 36, of Centralia, was arrested at around 2:42 p.m. July 27 and booked into the Lewis County Jail for second-degree assault, domestic violence, and fourth-degree assault, domestic violence, after officers responded to investigate a dispute in the 1300 block of Belmont Avenue.

• Isayah Merrill, 23, of Centralia, was referred to the Centralia Municipal Court for fourth-degree assault, domestic violence, at about 2:59 a.m. July 28 after allegedly committing an assault on a family member in the 1300 block of Lum Road.

• Kayla Deswert, 38, of Portland, and Luis Olmos Munoz, 32, of Welches, Oregon, were arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail for possession of a stolen motor vehicle in the 500 block of Harrison Avenue. Luis was also referred for the charges of violation of a domestic violence no-contact order at about 4:24 p.m. July 27.

• Benjamin Huntley, 58, of Centralia, was arrested and booked into the Chehalis Tribal Jail for second-degree criminal trespass and possession of drug paraphernalia after allegedly unlawfully entering a property in the 100 block of South Pearl Street and being found in possession of drug consumption items at about 6:19 p.m., July 27.

• Claire Hill, 65, of Pe Ell, was arrested and released for allegedly driving under influence after being involved in a motor vehicle collision in the 800 block of East Street while being intoxicated at about 6:50 p.m. July 27.

• Lawrence Menezes, 63, of Lynnwood, was referred to the Centralia Municipal Court for fourth-degree assault, domestic violence, after committing an assault on a family member in the 1000 block of Eckerson Road and fleeing the scene at about 9:41 p.m. July 27.

• Robert E. Weatherman, 79, of Sultan, was arrested and booked into the Chehalis Tribal Jail after returning to a location in the 100 block of South Pearl Street from which he had been trespassed the previous day at about 4 p.m. July 26.

• Ashley Aguilar, 20, of Centralia was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail for fourth-degree assault, domestic violence, after allegedly harming a domestic family relationship member in the 100 block of West Maple Street during a dispute at around 9:21 p.m. July 26.

• Daniel Adams, 30, of Centralia, was arrested and released at about 12:44 a.m. July 27 for possession of a controlled substance after being found with suspected fentanyl at the intersection of South Tower Avenue and East Locust Street.

• Cameron Whalen, 36, of Centralia, was arrested and released at around 3:01 a.m. July 27 for second-degree criminal trespass after being found on a property in the 100 block of South Pearl Street that he was previously trespassed from.

 

Camping on city property

• Two transients were issued notices of infraction for camping on city property in the 500 block of Harrison Avenue. They were made to leave the property at about 7:58 a.m. July 27.

 

Theft                                  

• A vehicle was stolen by a known suspect at around 10:21 a.m. July 27 in the 1200 block of Harrison Avenue. This case is still under investigation, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• A juvenile female was referred to the Lewis County Juvenile Court for third-degree theft after shoplifting from a local business in the 1000 block of South Yew Street around 8:11 p.m. July 25.

• A theft of groceries was reported in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue around 12:02 p.m. July 26. This case is under investigation.

• A juvenile was referred to the Lewis County Juvenile Court for multiple counts of second-degree possession of stolen property after being found to be in possession of numerous stolen bank cards at around 6:46 p.m. July 26 in the 1000 block of North Washington Avenue.



 

Vehicle prowl

• There was a report of a vehicle prowl in the 1000 block of L Street at about 11:55  p.m. July 27. The case is under investigation.

• There was a report of a vehicle prowl in the 1000 block of South Yew Street, around 4:31 p.m, July 26. No suspect information available.

 

Trespass and defecation                      

• Two subjects were trespassed from the property of a local business after officers received the report at around 10:58 a.m. July 25 that transients were defecating near the business in the 300 block of West Main Street.

• Two transients were trespassed from the 100 block of South Pearl Street at about 3:41 p.m. July 25, one for drinking alcohol in the park, and the other for urinating on a tree.

 

Social Security scam                                  

• Officers received the report that someone in the 1200 block of Rhobina Street had their Social Security stolen and used to open student loans in another state at around 12:33 p.m. July 25.

 

Assault                                  

• A man was assaulted at a downtown business in the 100 block of South Tower Avenue at around 1:51 a.m. July 26 by an unknown assailant. This case is currently under investigation.

 

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT

JAIL STATISTICS

• As of Monday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 182 inmates, including 170 in the general population and 12 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 142 were reported male and 28 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 10 were reported male and two were reported female.
