Sirens: Pedestrian cited after being struck by vehicle; organized retail theft arrest; vehicle strikes school bus; man caught with stolen vehicle and drugs

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT

Arrests

• Daniel A. Dzuck, 73, Centralia, was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail for allegedly driving under the influence in the 1900 block of Johnson Road at about 1:47 p.m. Friday.

• Patrick G.C. Winn, 41, Centralia, was arrested and booked into the Chehalis Tribal Jail for alleged violation of a no-contact order in the 800 Park Way at about 2:32 p.m. Friday.

• Diveana A. Armas Garfides, 31, Kent, was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail for organized retail theft with special circumstances in the 1400 block of Lum Road at about 2:42 p.m. Friday. She was reported to have stolen from a local clothing store. When officers located Armas Garfides, they found her to be in possession of a homemade Faraday bag. These bags are used by thieves to defeat security devices, according to police.

• Daniel R. Aguilar, 54, Toledo, was arrested in the 900 block of South Scheuber Road at about 7:38 p.m. Saturday after being contacted in a stolen vehicle. Upon contact, he provided a false name in an attempt to avoid a possible warrant for his arrest. Aguilar was searched incident to arrest and found to be in possession of suspected narcotics.

• Mauricio Rivera-Castrejon was arrested for DUI after being involved in a collision in the 1000 block of South Gold Street at about 10:22 p.m. Saturday.

• Clarence J. Rodgers, 40, Centralia, was arrested and booked into the Chehalis Tribal Jail after he was allegedly found to be in possession of suspected methamphetamine in the 2000 block of Cooks Hill Road at about 11:37 a.m. Sunday.

• Brian Bedortha, 57, Centralia, was arrested and released for a second offense of camping on city property or park after being found sleeping on a couch on city property.

• Christopher Chapman, 56, Centralia, was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail for an outstanding district court arrest warrant for possession of a controlled substance. He was arrested and released with a new Centralia Municipal Court date for an outstanding arrest warrant for no valid operator’s license without ID.

Accidents

• A vehicle versus school bus collision was reported in the 800 block of Harrison Avenue at about 4:03 p.m. Friday. The collision occurred at a low speed, and there were no reportable injuries.

• A vehicle and pedestrian collision occurred in the 600 block of West Main Street at about 7:43 p.m. Sunday. The pedestrian, who was not named, was found to have failed to obey the traffic control device in the intersection, causing the collision, and was issued an infraction for the violation.

Hit-and-run

• Deborah Rittenhouse, 62, Centralia, was referred to the Centralia Municipal Court for hit-and-run in the 2300 block of Sirkka Avenue at about 10:24 p.m. Sunday after striking a citizen’s mailbox in a motor vehicle and leaving the scene.

Criminal trespass

• A transient from Chehalis was trespassed from a business after being found sleeping on the property after hours in the 200 block of Centralia College Boulevard at about 1:32 a.m. Saturday.



Identity theft

• Eliot Widmer, 24, Moses Lake, was referred to the Lewis County Superior Court for second-degree identity theft in the 300 block of Reynolds Avenue at about 8:25 p.m. Sunday after providing identification information of a real person to avoid arrest for an outstanding arrest warrant.

Malicious mischief

• Damage was reported to a residential window in the 2200 block of Eureka Avenue at about 5:59 p.m. Saturday. No arrests have been made.

Theft

• Theft of items from a local store was reported in the 1300 block of Lum Road at about 3:35 p.m. Friday. No arrests have been made.

• Theft of shoes from a local shoe store was reported in the 1300 block of Lum Road at about 4:02 p.m. Friday. No arrests have been made.

• Shoplifting at a local business was reported in the 600 block of South Tower Avenue at about 10:43 p.m. Sunday. No suspect information is available, and the case is under investigation.

Vehicle prowl

• A license plate was reportedly stolen from inside of a vehicle in the 1400 block of Harrison Avenue at about 11:55 a.m. Sunday. No arrests have been made.

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT

• The Chehalis Police Department has not yet released its most recent call reports. Look for updated information in an upcoming edition of The Chronicle and at chronline.com when the reports are made available.

JAIL STATISTICS

• As of Oct. 6, the Lewis County Jail had a total facility population of 169 inmates, including 156 in the general population and 13 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of the general population inmates, 133 were reported male and 23 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 11 were reported male and two were reported female.
