Sirens: Naked Man in Fountain; Catalytic Converter Thefts Spike; Firearm Discharged in Backyard

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT

Hit-and-Runs

• A hit-and-run was reported in the 1200 block of Harrison Avenue at approximately 2:10 p.m. on April 22.

• A hit-and-run was reported in the 900 block of Harrison Avenue just after 4 p.m. on April 22.

• A hit-and-run to a light pole in the parking lot of a business in the 1000 block of Harrison Avenue was reported just after 7 a.m. on April 25.

 

Crashes

• Injuries were reported following a two-vehicle crash in the 1300 block of Airport Road just before 8:55 p.m. on April 22. No additional information was released by the police department.

• A vehicle reportedly crashed into mailboxes in the 2700 block of Borst Avenue just after 3:45 p.m. on April 23. No injuries were reported.

 

Theft

• A speaker was reported stolen out of a vehicle in the 300 block of North Gold Street at 4:20 p.m. on April 22.

• At 4:45 p.m. on April 23, a caller reported a vehicle had been taken from the 1200 block of H Street without the owner’s permission.

• Police were called to the 100 block of West Magnolia Street just after 9:05 a.m. on April 24 regarding a person looking underneath cars who was believed to be attempting a catalytic convertor theft. When police arrived, the subject jumped into a car and sped away.  No damage was found at this time. This same subject was later reported nearly severing a catalytic converter from another vehicle on Mellen Street, but he fled toward Chehalis when approached by a citizen, according to police.

• Merchandise was reported stolen from a business in the 300 block of Reynolds Avenue just after 9:35 a.m. on April 24.

 

Suspicious Circumstances

• At 6:20 a.m. on April 23, a caller reported a fire had been burning for over 24 hours in a neighbor’s yard in the 900 block of East Locust Street. The fire turned out to be a small barbecue fire in an approved pit.

• An “erratic vehicle” was reported in the 200 block of West Main Street just after 12:05 p.m. on April 23.

• A “speeding Honda with a loud exhaust” was reported in the 200 block of Reynolds Avenue just after 1:25 p.m. on April 23.

• Police were called to the 900 block of South Scheuber Road just after 4:50 a.m. on April 24 “because someone heard the sound of glass breaking.”

 

Go-Karts

• At 4:10 p.m. on April 23, police were asked to check the 2300 block of Sirkka Avenue for “children running go-karts on the roadway.”

 

Trespassing

• A subject was trespassed from a business in the 1300 block of Lum Road just after 8:25 a.m. on April 23.

• A subject was trespassed from a business in the 1300 block of Belmont Avenue at approximately 11:45 a.m. on April 23.

 

Welfare Checks

• A welfare check was requested just before 7:55 a.m. on April 23 for a man sleeping in the bushes in the 1100 block of Johnson Road.

• Officers were asked to search the 1300 block of Harrison Avenue just before 3:45 p.m. on April 23 for “an elderly male who appeared confused.”

 

Animal Checks

• A caller requested officers check on a cat outside a residence in the 500 block of North Rock Street at 8:35 a.m. on April 23.

• A caller requested officers check on a dog inside a vehicle in the 2000 block of Borst Avenue just after 2:20 p.m. on April 23.

• Police were called to the 1000 block of South Tower Avenue just before 1:45 a.m. on April 24 regarding a barking dog. An officer located the dog “but the dog’s owners weren’t around, so the officer pet the dog until it quieted down,” according to the police report.

 

Found Vehicles 

• Officers were asked to pick up a bicycle left near a residence in the 200 block of East High Street just after 11:10 a.m. on April 23.

• A stolen vehicle was recovered in the 1200 block of Belmont Avenue just before 3:15 p.m. on April 23.

 

Assault

• A Centralia woman was arrested in the 1800 block of Ahlers Avenue just after 12:40 a.m. on April 24 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for alleged assault, domestic violence.

• A juvenile was arrested in the 300 block of South Diamond Street at approximately 5:35 a.m. on April 24 and was booked into the Lewis County Juvenile Detention Center for fourth-degree assault, domestic violence.

 

Disputes

• A verbal dispute was reported in the 900 block of South Scheuber Road just after 4:50 a.m. on April 24.

• A Centralia man was arrested in the 500 block of South Tower Avenue just before 8:10 p.m. on April 24 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for harassment after he allegedly threatened to kill a person he was arguing with.

 

Reckless Endangerment

• A firearm discharge reported in the backyard of a residence in the 900 block of Orton Street just after 7:55 p.m. on April 24 is under investigation.

 

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT

Burglary

• A burglary to a residence in the 500 block of South Market Boulevard was reported just after 9:35 a.m. on April 22.

• A man was arrested in the 1500 block of North National Avenue just after 10:50 p.m. on April 22 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for attempted burglary.



• A second-degree burglary reported in the 1100 block of North National Avenue just before 2:20 p.m. on April 23 is under investigation.

• A second-degree burglary reported in the 1200 block of South Market Boulevard at approximately 12:35 p.m. on April 25 is under investigation.

 

Catalytic Converter Theft

• At approximately 9:40 a.m. on April 22, a catalytic converter was reported stolen from a U-Haul in the 1200 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue the night before.

• A possible attempted catalytic converter theft was reported in the 800 block of Southeast Evergreen Drive just before 10 p.m. on April 23. The suspect reportedly attempted to elude police. No arrests were made.

• A catalytic converter theft was reported in the 500 block of Northeast Washington Avenue just before 9:50 a.m. on April 24.

• A catalytic converter was reported stolen from the 100 block of Northeast Division Street at 4:15 p.m. on April 24.

 

Other Theft

• A vehicle was reported stolen from the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at approximately 7:55 p.m. on April 22.

• Just after 8:40 a.m. on April 24, a vehicle prowl that occurred in the 1300 block of Southwest Wilson Avenue sometime overnight was reported.

• A case of shoplifting was reported in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at 7:50 p.m. on April 24.

 

Animal Check

• At 1:25 p.m. on April 22, a caller reported two dogs had been barking inside a car in the 1200 block of Bishop Road for over two hours. The animals were not in distress.

 

Disorderly Conduct 

• A disorderly man was trespassed from a store at the intersection of Northwest Chamber of Commerce Way and Northwest Louisiana Avenue at 5:25 p.m. on April 22.

• A physical dispute was reported in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at 3:20 a.m. on April 23. No arrests were made.

• A case of disorderly conduct was reported at the intersection of Northwest State Avenue and Northwest West Street just after 9:55 a.m. on April 23.

• A man and woman were trespassed from a business in the 1700 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at approximately 10:50 a.m. on April 24 for reportedly harassing customers

 

Hit-and-Run

• A hit-and-run reported in the 1700 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 8:30 p.m. on April 22 is under investigation.

• A hit-and-run reported in the 500 block of West Main Street just before 3 p.m. on April 24 is under investigation.

 

Crash

• A non-injury, two-vehicle accident was reported in the 1800 block of South Gold Street just after 12:40 p.m. on April 23.

Death Investigation

• A death reported in the 2200 block of Southwest Salisbury Avenue at approximately 10:05 p.m. on April 22 is under investigation.

 

Assault

• A fourth-degree assault reported in the 200 block of Southwest 13th Street just before 3:50 p.m. on April 23 is under investigation.

• A fourth-degree assault reported in the 1400 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just before 9:50 p.m. on April 23 is under investigation.

 

Suspicious Vehicle

• A case involving a suspicious vehicle reported in the 1800 block of Southwest Snively Avnue at 5:20 a.m. on April 24 is under investigation.

 

Naked Man in Fountain

• Just after 11:30 a.m. on April 24, a caller reported a “naked man” was “in the fountain at the library” in the 400 block of North Market Boulevard. No arrests were made.

 

Vandalism

• Juveniles reportedly vandalized a bathroom in the 200 block of Southwest 13th Street just before 11:50 a.m. on April 24 by “hitting the sink and kicking trash cans,” possibly with sticks.

 

Physical Control

• Geraldo D. Jimenez, 23, Raymond, was arrested at the intersection of Southwest State Avenue and West Main Street just after 5:15 p.m. on April 24 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for allegedly being in physical control of a vehicle while under the influence.

 

Child Abuse

• A Chehalis woman was arrested in the 300 block of Southwest Third Street just before 8:50 p.m. on April 24 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for alleged third-degree assault of a child.

 

LEWIS COUNTY JAIL STATISTICS

As of Monday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 155 inmates, including 137 in the general population and 18 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 110 were reported male and 27 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 16 were reported male and two were reported female.
