MORTON POLICE DEPARTMENT

Morton Incidents

• An officer was dispatched to an assault complaint at Gust Backstrom Park at 11:10 p.m. on Aug. 6. The officer spoke with all of the individuals involved and no charges were pressed. An informational report was taken.

• An officer was dispatched to a noise complaint at the 200 block of Second Street at 12:50 a.m. on Aug. 7. The residents were unaware of how loud they were and agreed to quiet down.

• An officer was dispatched to the 100 block of First Street just after 7:30 p.m. on Aug. 7  regarding a dispute between a landlord and renter. The individual was advised this was a civil matter and an informational report was taken.

• An officer was dispatched to Gust Backstrom Park at 10:10 p.m. on Aug. 9  regarding a suspicious person. The officer spoke with the park manager, who wished to have the individual trespassed from the park. The individual left without further incident.

• An officer was dispatched to the Chevron Gas Plus just before 1:30 p.m. on Aug. 10 regarding an individual panhandling outside the store. The individual was trespassed and left without incident.

• An officer received a report of a scam just before 2:45 p.m. on Aug. 11. The incident is pending further investigation.

• An officer was dispatched to Gust Backstrom Park just before 9:50 p.m. on Aug. 11 regarding a theft complaint. The individual was trespassed from the park.

• An officer was dispatched to the 300 block of First Street just before 10:30 p.m. on Aug. 12 regarding a noise complaint. The officer was unable to observe any loud noises in the area.

• An officer contacted an individual by phone just after 4:10 p.m. on Aug. 13 regarding a complaint of malicious mischief in the 100 block of Second Street. The individual stated his car had been “keyed” the night before while parked at the Timber Patch Brewing. An informational report was taken.

• An officer was dispatched to Gust Backstrom Park just before 6:55 p.m. on Aug. 13 regarding a complaint of juveniles playing with airsoft guns at the park. The officer spoke with the juveniles’ father, who agreed to put the guns away.

• An officer was dispatched to an assault complaint at the Chevron Gas Station involving juveniles just after 9:55 p.m. on Aug. 13. The case has been referred to Lewis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for further review. 

• An officer was dispatched to the Chevron Gas Plus just after 11 p.m. on Aug. 13  regarding a trespassed individual.

• An officer was dispatched to the Bucksnort Pub just after 12:30 a.m. on Aug. 14 regarding a disorderly individual who was reportedly attempting to enter a camper that did not belong to him. The officer observed the individual, who was “obviously intoxicated” and appeared to have several abrasions from a fall. The individual was seen urinating in public and attempting to gain entry into vehicles. The man refused medical aid and was later cited for breach of public peace. 

• An officer was dispatched to Gust Backstrom Park just before 2 a.m. on Aug. 14  regarding a suspicious circumstances complaint. The officer was unable to contact the reporting individual.

• An officer was dispatched to the Bucksnort Pub just after 1:05 p.m. on Aug. 14 regarding the theft of a cellphone. An informational report was taken.

• An officer was dispatched to Gust Backstrom Park just before 8:20 p.m. on Aug. 14 regarding a noise complaint. The officer spoke with the owner of a barking dog, who agreed to keep the dog quiet.

• An officer was dispatched to an activated burglary alarm at Arbor Health Morton Hospital at 2:25 p.m. on Aug. 16. The alarm was triggered by accident.

• An officer was dispatched to the Chevron Gas Plus just after 10:25 p.m. on Aug. 16 regarding a disorderly group. The officer contacted the group and soon cleared the scene.

• An officer was dispatched to the 100 block of Division Avenue just before 10:55 a.m. on Aug. 17 regarding a theft of a wheelbarrow. An informational report was taken.

• Just after 1:20 p.m. on Aug. 17, an officer received a report of a hit-and-run that had occurred earlier in the week. The investigation is ongoing.

• An officer was dispatched to an activated burglary  alarm at Morton General Hospital just after 2:45 p.m. on Aug. 17. The alarm was triggered by accident.

• An officer was dispatched to an activated burglary alarm at Security State Bank just after 5:45 p.m. on Aug. 17. The alarm was triggered by accident.

• An officer was dispatched to Arbor Health Morton Hospital just before 5:20 p.m. on Aug. 17 to assist with a disorderly patient. The officer remained on scene until they were no longer needed.

• An officer responded to a report of a sexual assault in the vicinity of the 100 block of Third Street just after 9:25 p.m. on Aug. 17. The investigation is ongoing.

• An officer was dispatched to the area of Third and Main streets just before 4:50 p.m. on Aug. 18 regarding a dispute. The investigation is ongoing.

• An officer was dispatched to the 200 block of Division Avenue at 9:45 p.m. on Aug. 19 regarding a suspicious person. The officer was unable to locate the individual.

 

Mossyrock Incidents

• An officer was dispatched to the 200 block of Mossyrock Road just before 9:55 a.m. on Aug. 9 regarding an attempt-to-contact request from the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department. The officer was unable to contact anyone at the residence and resumed normal patrol.

• An officer was dispatched to the 100 Block of Mossyrock Avenue just before 4:55 p.m. on Aug. 9 regarding a dispute with a disorderly individual. The officer spoke with the individual, who agreed to leave the property the following morning. The roommate found this decision to be agreeable and the officer resumed regular patrol.

• An officer was dispatched to the 100 block of State Street just after 9 p.m. on Aug. 9 regarding a disorderly juvenile. An informational report was taken.

• An officer was dispatched to the 100 block of State Street at 11:05 a.m. on Aug. 10 regarding a disorderly juvenile. An informational report was taken.

• An officer was dispatched to the 100 block of Main Street just after 4:10 p.m. on Aug. 10 regarding a theft of a table saw from the Blessings Thrift Store. The investigation is ongoing.

• An officer was dispatched to the 100 block of Aldrich Road just after 7 p.m. on Aug. 10 regarding a civil problem. The officer advised the individual to seek the counsel of a civil attorney.

• An officer was dispatched to the 100 block of State Street just after 9 p.m. on Aug. 10 regarding a disorderly juvenile. An informational report was taken.

• An officer was dispatched to the 100 block of State Street just before 3:05 p.m. on Aug. 11 to assist Child Protective Services. The officer remained on scene until he was no longer needed.

• An officer was dispatched to the 100 block of Mossyrock Road at 1:40 p.m. on Aug. 12 regarding a scam complaint. An informational report was taken.

• An officer was dispatched to a report of a theft in the 700 block of Williams Street just after 5:30 p.m. on Aug. 13. The victim could not determine where the theft had occurred and an informational report was taken.

• An officer was dispatched to the 200 block of State Street just after 7:15 p.m. on Aug. 13 regarding a civil problem. An informational report was taken.

• An officer was dispatched to a disorderly-person complaint in the area of Main and State streets just after 1:15 p.m. on Aug. 17. The officer spoke with an individual who said he had been nearly attacked by a man carrying a bat. The individual said he was not injured, nor had he been assaulted. The officer located the other party involved, who stated a verbal argument began over an accusation of theft. Both parties agreed to separate and steer clear of each other to prevent further conflict.

 

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT

Hit-and-Run

• A hit-and-run to a vehicle parked in a lot in the 1200 block of Alder Street was reported just after 9 a.m. on Aug. 22. The victim believed the incident occurred overnight.

 

Vehicle Accident

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported in the 1000 block of Harrison Avenue just after 9:20 a.m. on Aug. 23. One driver was issued an infraction for failing to yield right of way.

 

Vehicle Prowl

• Personal property and a catalytic converter were reported stolen from a vehicle in the 1400 block of Lewis Street just before 6:35 p.m. on Aug. 22.

• Just after 10:15 a.m. on Aug. 23, a purse and other items were reported stolen sometime overnight from inside a vehicle parked in the 510 block of Prairie Rose Street.

 

Check Fraud

• A check fraud was reported in the 600 block of Centralia College Boulevard just before noon on Aug. 23 when the victim was notified that the check had been cashed, but the check was never received by the company it was made out to. The case is under investigation.



 

Other Theft

• A Chehalis resident was arrested in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue at 6:45 p.m. on Aug. 22 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for alleged shoplifting.

• Solar LED lights were reported stolen from a construction site in the 1100 block of Kresky Avenue just after 8:30 a.m. on Aug. 23.

• A palm tree was reported stolen from the intersection of G and West First streets just before 1:30 p.m. on Aug. 23.

• A vehicle was reported stolen from the 100 block of South Tower Avenue at 6:20 p.m. on Aug. 23.

 

Trespassing

• A man was trespassed from a property in the 2000 block of Cooks Hill Road just after 8:20 p.m. on Aug. 22.

• A Chehalis man was arrested in the 1400 block of Lewis Street just before 2:25 p.m. on Aug. 23 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for second-degree burglary after he allegedly entered an apartment he was trespassed from due to a protection order.

• A woman was trespassed from the library in the 100 block of South Silver Street at 4:05 p.m. on Aug. 23 due to “her inappropriate behavior.”

 

Malicious Mischief

• An unidentified male suspect reportedly damaged a garbage can at a business in the 900 block of Elsberry Street before leaving the area on foot at approximately 1:40 p.m. on Aug. 23. Officers were unable to locate the suspect and the case is under investigation.

 

Assault

• A Centralia woman was arrested in the 100 block of South Tower Avenue at 9:05 p.m. on Aug. 23 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for alleged fourth-degree assault.

 

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT

Hit-and-Run

• The driver of a commercial truck was cited for a hit-and-run after the truck took down a cable/phone line in the 10 block of Southeast 16th Street just before 8:20 a.m. on Aug. 22.

• A hit-and-run was reported in the 1700 block of North National Avenue just before 7:10 p.m. on Aug. 23.

 

Vehicle Accidents

• A non-injury vehicle accident reported in the 1700 block of North National Avenue at approximately 1:15 p.m. on Aug. 22 is under investigation.

• A non-injury, two-vehicle accident was reported in the 500 block of West Main Street just after 4 p.m. on Aug. 23.

 

Theft

• A third-degree theft reported in the 700 block of Southwest 16th Street just after 9:40 a.m. on Aug. 22 is under investigation.

• A third-degree theft was reported in the 1700 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 5:10 p.m. on Aug. 23.

• A third-degree theft reported in the 1700 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at approximately 6:40 p.m. on Aug. 23 is under investigation.

 

Fraud

• A case of non-specific fraud reported in the 400 block of North Market Boulevard just after 11:55 a.m. on Aug. 23 is under investigation.

 

Juvenile Problem

• Four teenage boys were reportedly “jumping out into the road” in front of a car at the intersection of Southwest Kelly Avenue and Southwest 18th Street at 5:25 p.m. on Aug. 22. Dispatch advised the driver to drive away.

 

Malicious Mischief

• A front porch window was reported broken in the 10 block of Southwest Third Street just after 1:15 a.m. on Aug. 23.

• A mailbox in the 1900 block of South Market Boulevard was reported broken at 8:50 a.m. on Aug. 23. The mail inside the mailbox was possibly stolen.

 

Burglary

• A second-degree burglary reported in the 1300 block of South Market Boulevard at approximately 12:05 p.m. on Aug. 23 is under investigation.

 

Trespassing

• A man was arrested in the 200 block of Southwest Second Street just after 2:30 p.m. on Aug. 23 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for trespassing after he allegedly refused to leave a property.

• A case of trespassing that was reported in the 1100 block of South Market Boulevard just before 8:05 p.m. on Aug. 23 is under investigation.

• A man was trespassed from a business in the 1400 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 1:20 a.m. on Aug. 24.

 

LEWIS COUNTY JAIL STATISTICS

As of Wednesday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 178 inmates, including 160 in the general population and 18 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 131 were reported male and 29 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 16 were reported male and two were reported female.
